You can buy Pimsleur Spanish CD's/MP3's. It's the choice of a lot of guys here.

Do a search here and online.

Rosetta Stone is touted by most as the best but most use Pimsleur because it can be easily downloaded from some net sites for free. Have no heard of a site that has the RS lessons.

RS is available. I have the entire set of languages, including some obscure stuff like Togo ;)

I personally just don't like Rosetta Stone. It doesn't do a very good job of teaching you conversational spanish, but I guess if you complete it, it will give a pretty good basis for learning more.

Rosetta Stone is the best way to learn a language because you will speak, read, and write by the time you are finished. The problem with it is that you start learning things like colors, animal names, the names of objects, etc. So it's not user friendly or conversational until much later. To put it another way, you could study Rosetta for months and still not be able to ask a hooker if she wants to go back to the room with you. Pimsleur, on the other hand, must have been a monger. You can study for a couple weeks and know how to say all sorts of important things that chicas need to hear. Pimsleur is most definitely the way to go for guys in our situation.

I have found this course to be pretty good . . . using the 30 Lessons for $99.95 in conjunction with a tutor. Audio with transcripts and a sleepy little forum for additional help. Didn't want to pony up the cost of Pimsluer or Rosetta Stone, especially after reading the reviews of both at Amazon.

It was mentioned that free downloads of Pimsleur are available. Any ideas where to look?

Yeah.. Sparky's first Spanish phrase had something to do with her cutting off his nuts and him asking for them back from time to time.

Try this:

http://www.mangolanguages.com/ has Spanish and Portuguese audiovisual lessons online. It's in beta at the moment and therefore free.

This thread is an old one so don't know if I will get a response, but here is my quandry: I want to learn Spanish, but I don't want to get bored doing so. I lived in Italy and France for a while and can get by reasonably well in both languages and therefore already know or can quickly pick up some basic Spanish. Does anyone out there know of a Spanish program that will progress at your own rate of learning without being overly repetitive?
Someone mentioned "My Spanish Coach", a Nintendo DS game that is less repetive as you learn. Does Rosetta Stone respond in that manner as well?
