A day at the Del Rey:

it's more expensive, $10 to bring a girl up, no free breakfast, internet connection is expensive, and some rooms have a noise issue. So why do I stay there. At the risk of sounding like a jerk I can afford the extra expenses, I do not bring a computer so do not need a connection, prefer light breakfast that usually cost less than five dollars and bringing up the jerk thing again I can afford a better rooms were the noise is not a problem.

The number one overriding factor that makes the Del Rey my hotel of choice is convenience. I am one lazy old man and the convenience of stepping out of my room going down an elevator and stepping out into a room full of available women is just too much to say no to. Another consideration is that staying there completely eliminates the need to deal with taxis and being on the street at night. So I guess you could say another major plus for the Del Rey is security.

Yes there are many opportunities to be separated from your money. A few simple actions illuminate most of those opportunities. Do not charge things to your room. Keep bills of small denomination and coins on you to pay for drinks as they arrive thereby eliminating the need to worry about change. Do not run a bar tab.

Lee

Shawn, your fugly.  You forgot to mention the HDR also charges too much for drinks and the women charge too much for the crappy sex, so I suggest all the mongers find other destinations to travel or just stick with the MP's in SJ. 8)

My last post was just a joke. I stay there 90% of the time for most of the same reasons that Lee mentioned. ROOMS: I am not in CR for the "hotel experience". HDR is where the poosie is so thats where I should be. The rooms are pretty much what I would expect for $80 or so in any beach town I've been to in the states. Very little trouble from the girls because HDR (not the prez) is where the girls work and it's the last place on earth that they want to get kicked out of. CHICA FEES:The chica fee is only $10 which is not much at all compared to some of the other hotels in the area. The girls prefer this hotel, there are no taxis , bums, stupid dress codes or other mood breakers to deal with and thats worth it to me. Besides, HDR is housing the party every day and that makes them the only hotel that SHOULD be charging a chica fee. STAFF:The staff will treat you very well if they get to know you as a regular guest and are quick to take care of any problems that might arise. Still, like with any person , place, or thing in CR, never run a tab...pay as you go. NOISE:If noise is bothering people, they should stay on floors 4 thru 6... or better yet, remember you are in poosieville and stop going to bed so early. Beds in the gulch should be phucked in & fallen in. If I have to crawl into bed and "try" to get to sleep then obviously I am not mongering or partying enough and shouldn't have even left home. HDR is not just for newbies .. it's for All-Stars! :P

YO Lazy Lee:

Damn man, you are just too laid back. I suppose that you let those chicas push the elevator button for you so not to exercize your arm. You probably stoop low enough to not even pay cien. I just hope that you don't have chicas cater your eats up to the room so you won't have to get out of your jamies. Really disgusting. Hell, you probably make then hold your special purpose and guide it into their glory hole while you lay back and moan "NEXT."

Your only travel seeing the country is up and down the elevator of the DR. Shameful.

All I can say about your abhorable behavior is..........sorry, a tear just came to my eye.......now I'm depressed again. Sometimes we just have to feed off the experiences of successful mongers. Sigh............

i stayed at the castillo this summer and i must admit that the 3block walk to zona blue and the 50 meter walk to new fantasy was just too much for me..
thinking i must only stay in the hdr for all of my future endeavors... also was half the price of hdr so it was like a free session each day, but the walk was just too much... not going to stay there ever again.. haha...('')

I have to chime in on this - I stayed at the Delrey on July 5th A few days before the 5th they charged my card with a hold of $221.00

The Hold is still on my card TODAY . I asked them numerous times they said they would forward it to the accounting dept . So I followed up and they said they forwarded it nothing more she can do . Now they dont respond to my email. I called my card company they said fax them the bill and they will try to remove it . So I did .If this is part of the numbers game they play then..............the jury is still out

If they charge me then This dosent suprise me after reading all over the board how dishonest the people are that work there . Im glad I was brought up with values and principles to do the next right thing . Im not dissing the whole country but seriously you have to teach your Ch*ldren to have pride not be a sneaky thief who can rip off someone because they have more money then you .

Im glad I was enlightened about this BEFORE I went to CR so I didnt get robbed .Thank you for looking out for your fellow americans . JG

I’ll put in a good word for the DR. What Lee and Shawn4DelRey said and more.

I make my reservations at the DR before my airline reservations. Open a tab at the BM around 10am and close it at 5 and open another. Come and go through out the day and night, buy drinks for my friends and the chicas. If I’m not there to close it out the BT will do it for me and add 10% tip (per my instructions).

No way I can keep track of every drink, but I do have years of experience with bar tabs. At the end of the stay the charges seem alright.

Every night around 6 I have my room completely cleaned, including new towels and sheets to get ready for the night shift.

I’m not into Ho houses and I’m not in CR to make man friends. Never had a problem that amounted to anything. Staff has always been great.

Before the DR took over the KL and moved the restaurant, I went 5 days with out ever walking out the door. It wasn’t all that hard to do. ja ja

You see I'm not the only one. I'm constantly being harassed for spending so much time there. Thank you Mulletguter.
