Hi Guys,

About 6 of us will be in CR in September and I'm thinking about doing an overnight trip to Jaco maybe on a Saturday. What I'm thinking about is getting a driver to take us over there in the morning and then either stay overnight with us or pick us back up the following lunch time.

Does anyone have any experience like this? What's the cost of a driver (need a van) for a couple of days? Any advice?

I assume you will be in San Jose since you didnt mention where you would be . Last week I went over to the Sleep Inn next door to the delrey . There was a guy with a brand new passenger Van there with AC and tourista tags . His name is Edgar ,He drove us to Jaco and provided a cooler of beer and soda . During the trip He told us all about the area we where driving in and stopped at a few neat places and bought us fruit , (not sure if your looking for a tour guide) When all is done his charge was $100 USD we gave $10 tip Then we called him back and he drove us to arenal then back to San Jose and the airport . Very professional man .perfect englis and honest . I wouldnt take the bus or those con artist outside the HDR. Also The going rate for a driver per day I was told is $110 plus his expense he will sit in his $15 hotel room and wait for your call . Its all negotioble too .If you would like edgars cell phone number give me a PM . bueno Suerte . JG

you can find a taxi for 50.00 for each way...go to coke cola bus statiom in the am....and put the word out you are looking for a taxi to take u there ...and dont get off your price of 50.00 you will get a taker....same once you get into town.....try to find a taxi early so you can set it up for the next day or whenever you want to go back....we did both ways without much planning.....so it can be done...that 100.00 each way is off base from what we found....but again ymmv ....read my post about jaco....before going....some members like the place and some like me could careless if they make that place a bomb testing site .....

I do not think six people will fit in a cab. They will definitely need a van.

That is good information for a smaller group. Interbus is also a good deal for small groups to almost anywhere in Costa Rica

AngloTime I would go with Jersey Gringo guy he gave a real good recommendation and that is big when so many Tico divers would love to rip you off. At less then 20.00 a person it looks like a real good deal

Keep in mind that Jersey Gringo is a cowboy fan that does show a lack of good judgment :P :P

Call the front desk at Sportsmens, they have several van drivers that can be trusted and give reasonable prices.

Thanks guys. If Edgar is the guy I think he is, we used him on our last trip. The cooler of beer and all of the tour guide stuff sounds just like him and he was a great guy.

Does he sound familiar to anyone? Perhaps someone may have his number? I'm staying at the DR so I can walk to the Sleep and ask.
