Bruno & I will be back in CR in about 2.5 weeks and will probably be acting like eco-tourists when his "esposa" is around. I am looking at cheap, one day (or half day) activities. If anyone has had positive experiences or recomendations about non-monger activities, please post them here. We did the Calipso tour to Turtle Island back in January. That was cool, but I like variety.

One of the trips I have spotted on the net has been packages like "canopy tours." Anyone done this before? If so, please tell me what the hell it is. We are also looking at one of the volcano trips. Recomendations on which one is better?

Thanks fellas...

I used the tour desk at the Presidente and the girl there was very helpful with many recommendations of different tours. I took the 4 in 1 all day tour for $75 and it was a long day but very worthwhile IMHO.

I did a canopy tour with Chiclets in October. Just me and another guy who was staying at the same hotel as me.

Chiclets is about 5Km south of Jaco Beach. $60 for 13 zip lines from 30 to 300 meters long. High in the rain forest and even got a great shot of the Pacific from one of the platforms. The 4 guides were cool guys and took good care of us.

It was a lot of fun.

The very best tours are a few hours drive north of the city.

Monteverde is the place you want to be if you want to see the ultimate.

It is worth catching volcano Arenal while you are at it.

The amazing number of micro climates within a square kilometer is simply amazing.
