What are some good pass times to do at Jaco during the day?

This is my 1st visit. Looking at being there the week of 1/16.

2 nights enough there?

Thanks for any info.

1. Canopy Tour
2. ATV riding in the mountains

You can book both through Paradise Hotel. I did both. Very cool.

Some suggestions:
-For the canopy tours, wear very loose and light clothing. It gets very hot in Jaco and there's a uphil hike to get to the actual site that you have to do with your equipment on. They provide water along the way.
-For the ATV's, wear the worst clothing and shoes/boots that you own. They may need to get thrown out afterwards, especially if it rains. That clay/mud is not easy to wash out. I wasn't aware of this and had to throw away a new t-shirt, pretty good jeans, and a perfectly good pair of sneakers.

2 nights in Jaco is plenty in my opinion, but I have a feeling you will like SJ better.

No opinion here. Fishing is not my thing, I don't have the patience. Haha.

I met some guys from Tenn. while drinking at Bohio, a beachfront rest/bar. A tico came riding up on a horse and offered horse rides up to the bluff overlooking Jaco. 35 bucks. I got some great photos. The ride was about 2 hours, well worth it.

Rent a surfboard go surf Hermosa pray you dont drown. I think there is also jet ski rentals at the marina. If you have a rental car thats 4w drive There is some cool roads up the mountains. Hang gliding, crocidile tour kayaking, picking mushrooms lol and lots of places to buy things although a bit pricy compared to other places.

Surfdog

You might want to start with breakfast at "Sunrise" restaurant. Take an ATV or go horseback riding into the mountains. Also, a great deal for the money is scooter rentals. They go for $40 /24 hours. I got 2 for $70. Me and my tica babe had a blast riding them everywhere. Hanging out by the pool at Copacabana can be a good time as well. Some of the chicas tend to stop by "looking" for something every day. 8)

If you are into nature stuff and seeing animals there is a "Monkey Tour" that is either a half day or whole day trip. Ride takes you to a river boat ride, with lots of wildlife. For other wildlife, set up something the night before. If you have transportation, take them out to Esterillos Este or Bejuco ( half hour south of Jaco ) Beaches are pretty isolated and the chicas like to get rid of tan lines. This time of year a lot of people want to fish and it is possible to find people looking for an extra person to go on the boat.

Los Suenos Marina has some of the best fishing in the world. The day before Thanksgiving I fished solo with Costa Rica Dreams and caught eleven mahi-mahi around 30 lbs each ...six sailfish around 120 pounds each ... and one blue marlin around 300 pounds ... then spent a sensual night with a Nica at the Cocacabana ... damn what a day !!!! ... hope to be down later in the month or early February and intend to fish with them again ... the boat I was on is called Dream II ... give them a try - you'll have a blast ...

I have to agree with Postupright, the fishing is fantastic out of Los Suenos.

Postupright, sounds like you had a great day (and night) of fishing. Heading down their to fish for 2 days on Jan 12 and 13. This will be my fourth trip and they seem to get better each time.

If you are not up for a full day of offshore fishing, you can inquire around the Los Suenos Marina about chartering a small boat to go after Roosterfish. They are a blast to catch.

You can go horseback riding. Tons of tours advertised in town or go to the equestrian center just north of the road to playa herradura (los suenos).
