hey all, i'm going to be staying in SJO@SL from the 8th-the 15th. I was hoping on doing some tours. The non-horticultural activities I would like to partake on is biking, rafting, the canopy zipline tours and maybe the volcano tour. 1. I don't really want to stay overnight at any of these place, Can this be done while doing most of the tours? 2. I heard that the Volcano tour is kind of far of SJO is it true? 3. Also it seems to be rainy season over there right now would it be a good idea to do any of these tours in this season? 4. How much should I expect to be paying for each or total package? 5. I've heard wonderful things about bill from the SL, Should I let him take care of it? 6. I was also considering Chartering a boat to fish with. That is pricey and needs at least 4 heads. I am down if anyone has plans for it already and wouldn't mind me tagging along. I'll pay my dues if reasonable. anyone else interested to do the same activities on any of the dates i'm staying there in SJO please contact me. I will be with a wingman but, would love more people since maybe we can get a better rate together. thanks |

1) yes, they can all be done as day tours 2) no, the volcanos aren't far 3) yes, it tends to rain mainly in the afternoon 4) anywhere from $35 for a half day tour to $90 for a full day tour, plus any tips 5) sure, you can also do it very easily through the tour-desk in the lobby of the Del Rey. 6) this can be done as a day tour from SJ but you will have to add the $20(?) cost of a license, the cost AND TIME of getting to the coast and the timeof getting out to the fishing spot. It might be something done better as part of an overnight to Jaco which still has nightlife. Expect to pay $230-240 for a NON-charter out of SJ which includes everything except for tips. Charters generally run anywhere from $600/half day for a small boat to much more so it will probably cost at least as much when you get done with transfers, licenses, etc. You'll be there during the green season so you might find better bargains, but it will still probably cost twice as much as the other tours you mentioned. Does that sound reasonable? You really should use the search feature.
