Going to be in Jaco for two days, one night. Any recommendations on a good canopy tour?

There is also another canopy tour in Mahogany Park which is offered by the biggest Canopy tour company in CR (THE Original CANOPY TOUR®) http://www.canopytour.com/. Its been a few years since I went there and it may have improved but I believe it also has fewer platforms and cables than Chiclets, is much further from Jaco and unlike Chiclets has no view of the ocean.

I took the canopy tour in Jaco, booked it through the Paradise Hotel. There's a black girl that works there that books all sorts of trips. I think her name is Erica(?). She speaks pretty good English too. I don't think you have to be a guest at the hotel to be able to book a tour.

The tour was cool. It was a 10 minute cab ride (included in price) from Jaco. The guides were really cool, funny guys. All spoke pretty good English, if Spanish is a problem for you.

I did Chiclets in 2003. It's about 5Km south of Jaco. The 4 guides were all cool guys (as Orange mentioned). It was a real rush.

There were 13 lines then and they were installing a new one which was going to be really looooooooong. I saw the nylon line they had strung and it was easily 500 meters long.

Has I recall it was $60 and they threw in some fresh fruit and a bottle of water after the tour.

Yep, it's the last one before the drop down. It's long and FAST. It looks kind of scary before you get on it, but once you take off, it's awesome.

Its a little pricey at $60 considering there is so little transport involved. The other canopy tours are usually only around $45 W/O transport. But what I liked about it was that because it was so close to Jaco you did not kill a lot of time just getting to and from the tour site. Most of the time was spent actually up in the canopy. I took the early morning tour, was done in only 2-3 hours (before it got really hot) and still had the bulk of the day free for other activities. The other thing that makes it a little unique from the other canopy tours that I have been on is that at a few points you get some really tremendous views of the Pacific.

That's a good point. The earlier you go, the better. Our tour was around mid-day, not good. First, you have to walk up some hills and a lot of stairs to get to the top of the canopies. It's quite a hike, especially with all the equipment already on. It's not heavy, but it's not light either. When I got to the top, I was soaked from sweat. It became really hot, and the humidity in Jaco can be unbearable, it's like a bottleneck, nowhere to escape.

I agree about the heat/humidity in Jaco. Bring lots of water. God... I sweat just when I think about Jaco.
