Searches on "fishing" and even varieties of fish such as pargo and snook only result in information on big game, big dollar charter fishing. Any advice on central Pacific locations and methods for spin casting lures or bait? <ov>< |

Yep you will not find much on non-charter fishing. Although there are some cheap charters to be had in Jaco and Quepos especially during low season. A year ago January I had some fair luck in Dominical fishing the surf and the fresh water line where it mixed with the salt; some small snook and roosters and some jacks. This time of year, being the "green" season I would try and river mouths especially with debris and you could get into some grande snook, roosters, pargo and possibly dorado. Bring your own gear!! You might e-mail Jerry Ruhlow at the Tico Times as he is very helpful. Pax, Sluthog |

I took a ride on an ultralite delta wing from lighthouse point in Jaco. Its basically a 2 seat hangglider with a 50 hp rotax engine. During the flight I noticed several people surf fishing around the rocks on the south and north end of Jaco beach. The guy on the north end had a fish in his bucket, the pilot told me you could catch snappers there and it looked easy enough to get to. Raw |
