What’s the poker scene like in Jaco and SJ? First time traveling and would like to play some PLO or NLHE while in town. What locations and stakes/games run?

I haven't been down post covid but it looks like games are running at the Taormina at 7PM each day.

There is a gringo run game in Escazu at the Sheraton. Most ticos tight as Phuck pros grinding. A few very bad players. They have a couple tables every day. Big freeroll tourney for everyone who plays cash more than 50 hours a month. Dealers skill varies, mostly men. Food is good, service is ticatastic (servers are super hot but food late and sometimes never). Def saw players bringing ticas up in the elevator but not two at a time. I think if you book there and put 2 ppl down, the first tica you bring up can be used as your first guest. Might be $20 to add names. Rooms are nice. They have a free pool table in the lobby.

In Jaco, NY gringo game runs daily at the Amapola Hotel. You can call ahead or ask for directions at the desk, the game is up a set of stairs. Food is good. Tica dealers and servers are hot and seemed like they were working (guy asked one super hot dealer if she did better with money at the game or at Cocal).

Haven't played Taromina in a while, anyone know how action compares to the other two?

Any updates for SJ games would be appreciated.

When I was there in September, the game at the Taormina didn’t get going until 6pm.

I was hoping that there would be a game somewhere that started up during the day when I get back down in February.

Does anyone know what time the game at the Sheraton starts up normally? Hoping to find a game that starts after lunch/afternoon.

Hi guys. Regarding Poker. Is taormina and the Sheraton the only games running in San Jose at the moment? Anyone know what time the game starts at the Sheraton? Any thoughts as which game is the best?

In Jaco is the Amapola Hotel the only place for a game? Is there not a game any longer at the Hotel Cocal? Thanks in advance!

I was just down for the Super Bowl and played at the Taormina a couple of times. They usually had a free roll around 4:30 and then the cash game started around 5 or 5:30. I got there around 5 and got on the first table and bought in for $100.

But I never did get an answer about the Sheraton game. I did hear it’s going and that the players there put more money on the table than at the Taormina. Word was that you’d want to buy in for $200-300 to start.
