Could I get a referral to a Dentist in the San Jose area.

Nothing complex. I need a couple crowns and a deep cleaning. Around $4K here in the U.S. but I have to believe that should cost a lot less in CR. Thx.

If the teeth are ready for the permanent crown my guess is around 250 US per crown, plus a modest amount for a cleaning..

I've consulted a dental office there for an estimate for a lot of work, implants, etc. They did 3d xray and estimate, did charge me $90 but got my estimate at around 15 K US. It would have been 4 or 5 implants, and 12 crowns on the implants plus around a bridge or two, extraction, build up of upper jaw (bone graft)..etc.

Anyway, never followed through, but was impressed with the set up. And that work would have been over 50 K at home I'm sure.

I highly recommend Prisma Dental: https://prismadental.com/

I have used them for several years and have always been very pleased.

Very professional and they all speak English, if that is an issue !!

I’ve had cleanings, fillings, root canals and etc (no crowns).

Hope this helps !

Costa Rica Dental team. Pick you up in the downtown area and bring you back after appointment. Excellent care, reasonable prices. Very pleased with the services I have received there over the years.

I have used both. Both excellent. I do feel Prisma is more expensive. The Dental team does provide transportation.

Prisma is top-notch. Have had a couple root canals and crowns from them. No problems after a decade. Same great staff. Very comfortable and great facility. They have their own crown lab on site. Staff is the best!!
Brought my family down to use them. Transportation was provided.

I’ve used Prisma Dental for a lot of restoration work and they’ve been excellent.

I have used them for general dentistry, cavities, cleanings, whitenings, crown. Friends have used them for the same plus implants. Dr Castro started it with Dr Anglada

I definitely do NOT recommend Dr. Chen. Quite the contrary, I STRONGLY recommend AGAINST him. First of all, I have a question for Osgood, when was the last time you used Dr. Chen's services (if ever)? I'll admit its been several years ago for me but he was old & decrepit even then and I'd be somewhat surprised if he's even still practicing. I've never been to a dentist with shakier hands, so much so that I got extremely scared as he approached my mouth with his drill. I though he must have had Parkinson's disease or some similar disorder. What's worse, I went to him for a simple filling which fell out of my tooth on the plane flight back to the US so I had to find an emergency dentist to fix it as soon as I got home. Easily the worst dentist I have ever been to in my life and I've experienced more than my share of bad dentists.

Prisma Dental gets good reviews as do Drs Castro and Anglada, but I will have to add my endorsement for Costa Rica Dental Team. I've going to them for years (implants, crowns, root canals, you name it) and I can't say enough good things about them. Plus they offer a CRT VIP discount and will provide the free pick-up and drop-off already mentioned by others. Heck, the driver will even stop off with you at a pharmacy on your way back to your hotel if you need any pain relievers or antibiotics after your surgery.

After numerous suggestions I've decided on Mario Garita Dental in Escazu. Thank You.

I had them do an extraction, they said $50, but when I got there, they said I needed the dental surgeon, not a dentist because my roots are Neanderthal long and curved, they were honest, I knew that.

So I say "How much"?

They looked a bit embarrassed and said $100, lol.

Dental surgeon in USA would sting you about $500 or more for that, lol.

I was impressed! He had it out in 10 minutes and very little pain during and after, a real pro.

My copay for a recent extraction was $86.00... I did get some valium and a lot of nitrous for that
