Since I’ve been fishing for a living since 1970 I rarely fish when in CR . A friend invited me to come to Golfito Sailfish Rancho and fish with 12 buddies this month . In 3 days fishing in 6 boats we released 114 Sailfish and 7 Blue Marlin . Also caught numerous Dolphin .

I was already at the DR . They arrived in SJ where a van picked them up and took them to a nice Hotel near the airport ( can’t remember the name ) . 5:30 the next morning we met at the airport for a 45min flight to Golfito and a 20 min boat ride to the lodge and breakfast . I was fishing at 9 and had the first Sail on 5 min later.

You can check there web site for all the Info.http://www.golfitosailfish.com/ . It was a very well run camp with very good staff and crews . Golfito usually has good fishing . The Captains I fished with were knowledgeable and tried there best to catch .

On the downside for some . I would not take a Chica unless you knew her well and she really liked to fish . We fished in 27ft open boats from 6:30 to 3:30 . and there is nothing for them to do at the Lodge during the day . I had been at the DR for 5 days and stayed another 6 after fishing . It was a much needed no Chica break for me .
