I would love to know as well. My guess though is you might be staying longer than your intended plan if you are not careful. I know you do not want to ask about buying Jade in Costa Rica.

I do not think they are too friendly to non natives treasure hunting in Costa Rica. I would love to do either one but something tells me it is not a smart move. God forbid you find something, and maybe there are locals keeping an eye on you without your being aware, and they decide it should be theirs and forcibly take it from you.

I more than 7 years living beach front in Costa Rica I have never once seen someone with a metal detector. I don't have a reason for that other than to add to the conversation that I have never seen anyone using one. Would be very interesting to see what some of the realities of it are. I know there is a Radio Shack in the gulch, I wonder if they even carry metal detectors for sale there?

I'll bet if you went into the Sportsmans, HDR, or HLH your meter would go off the charts as many guys there have metal plates in their heads!
