Can anyone tell me if the natives play Chess in the parks? If so, which parks? If not, is there anywhere public that they play?

I've not seen any board games played in public parks ... and I did look for it.

It was the same when I went to Russia ... it seems to be a fallacy of Hollywood.

The Ministerio de Cultura y Juventud sponsors Saturday concerts, arts and crafts fairs, etc. in Parque Morazan and Parque EspaƱa. These events sometimes include about twenty open chess tables (it seems pretty hit or miss as to whether or not they're available on any given weekend.) I have no idea as to the quality of the play. I don't suspect they have the serious chess hustlers that you'll find in NYC or D.C.
