Decent photo of one on "Noticias de Quepos y Más" facebook page. My novia said at the north end close to the nudey and fruity friendly beach. |

Walk as far as north as you possibly can on the public beach, not the beaches in the park, and you'll run into a high rocky stretch you'll have to manuever around, there it is. The natives are getting restless as they say, want something done about the crocs, like open hunting, because the word is it's getting too common. |

Passable on foot depending on the tide, otherwise you have to get wet. I think that's why it's their perect hideout. Popular with the serious tico surfers but I think for them it is more for the best waves then to scope out the saggy Euro's that I saw there the few times I voyuered that way many moons ago. And then when it became known for the other thing, I never went back. Just my luck I'd run into one of my friends coming back and they'd get the wrong idea ![]() ![]() And it's a long walk back to where I hang out at Balu's Beach Bar/Restaurante, right on the beach just north of whatever is left of May Y Sambra. I could sit at Balu until I died and be happy. And alot of ex-pats do. For y'all that never been, it's on Facebook and TripAdvisor and the rest of them. Don't miss it. |

i think i must of tried to pass when the tide was in because it seemed dangerous. i don't mind droopy euros since they at least know not to stare to the point of making people uncomfortable. what a shame when a girl has to roll on her stomach and redress cause people can't seem to control. next time down i will have to pay more attention to tides around that area. and apparently crocs ![]() |

https://www.facebook.com/balurestaurant ... tos_stream It isn't fancy, but highly addictive. Opens 8:30 for bk, closes around 9 unless there's a crowd. Been there since the father opened it in the early 60's when it was still a dirt road from Quepos to the beach and they tell me it was the only biz of any kind in ManAntonio, catering as a grocery store/pulperia to the locals--who lived on land that is now all hotels and what not. The Park wasn't dedicated until '72 when CR appropriated the land from a gringo who was putting up road blocks. The eldest son Memo now runs Balu. Hasn't changed much since the beginning judging by the foto's other then more modern cooking/cooling equipment--it's still a beach shack. Only place in MA actually right on the beach in the sand since his uncle's place, Mar Y Sombra, "closed"--another story. High tide comes right up to your feet. If you just want to hang out on the beach and eat and drink at reasonable prices in a safe place and occasionally go for a surf walk or a swim, and come back and then do it again, perfect. |
