Hey - any of you intrepid, physically fit souls out there want to try a 2-day mountain biking trip from San Jose to Manuel Antonio on the dates above? My buddy and I need at least one more person to make the trip with Coast to Coast Adventures a go. Here's the trip description from the Coast to Coast web site:

DAY 1:
We drive out of San Jose up to Cerro de la Muerte at an altitude of 2330 meters, high on the Continental Divide. We start our day with a 14km descent on a rarely traveled gravel road (there is a paved alternative route for those who prefer it). After a hilly section passing through the rich farming and coffee communities of Santa Maria and San Marcos, we leave the pavement and continue our trek on dirt roads towards the Pacific Coast. We have two routes to choose from depending on the weather, one involves an overnight in a local hotel, while the other is a camping night. Our campsite sits high on a mountain with a panoramic view of the valley.

DAY 2:
Our second day of biking takes us through the sparsely populated and incredibly scenic Pacific slopes, a raucous and exhilarating downhill ride to the coastal plain, through a remote area of thick forest and isolated farms. Out of the hills, we cross the river at Paso Real and push on to the white sand beaches of Manuel Antonio. We arrive in time for a well deserved dunking in the hotel pool or plunge in the surf at the beach.

$250 per person (based on double occupancy)
Price includes: Transportation from hotel, all meals except dinner on last day, accommodation, all necessary equipment, and professional, bilingual and friendly guides.

Note: Trips leaves every Wednesday
"Return transportation from Manuel Antonio is not included"

C'mon - break out of the old gulch scene and give it a shot! PM me as soon as possible if you're interested...

If return transportation from Manuel Antonio was included in the 250, I might consider it...I am NOT biking back to San Jose from MA  . Really, sounds like a great trip and way to see the countryside. I'd probably have a heart attack though, so will stick to my motorcycle this season...

Great to hear from you Tman - hope you're having a great holiday!

Okay, fair enough re: the mountain biking. Any chance I can talk you into another trip to Kamur though?

Best regards,
GR

I admire your sense of adventure. I hope you are exceptionally fit because you will encounter numerous verticals that will be absolutely killer.

Also, I'll be traveling back towards SJ from the south central Pacific coast late January. We always travel those "little used" gravel roads through the mountains, and we are almost always totally trashed (and practicing our NASCAR skills) whilst coming through.

I'm concerned for your safety. Via con Dios, amigo.
