I had read on this site previously [I pretty sure] about the old man who rolls cigars in CR. I'm certain of his name, but unsure if it's now a "taboo" here since the post appears to have disappeared. Anyone know of this Don B fellow? Thanks for any responses. |

Yeah, that's the guy; I hestitated using his full name due to uncertainty over "privacy" issues (maybe a reason the post was removed??). Need any info you can provide of him, his cigars, where, ect. |

Don benignos's is a fine Cub*n gentleman. His ships all the tabacco leaves from Cu**. His got all kind of cigars his own as well and other brands brought directly from his homeland He is located in Pavas. Mente |

You can also go to cigar shops throughout central america and have them send you cuban cigars in the mail. A lot easier and no stress when going through customs. As long as you can live with the bands saying " Havana " removed and sent in another non cuban box it is the way to go. If you purchase so called cuban cigars on the street or supposed cuban tobacco cigars from a local roller you can be assured it's counterfeit. There is really no inexpensive way to get real cuban cigars now a days. Also, the bush administration has cracked down on american's traveling to cuba. I've heard of very stiff fines. |

Puriscal is the tabacco area of CR. Cumbres is located there along with Vegas de Santiago. Both offer tours of factory along with purchases directly there. I have oscar from the drivers list take me there when in CR. Also you can order on line at WWW.vegassantiago.com . You may alos contact Don Gordo for the cigar lady in San Jose. I have yet to be disappointed by any of these fine people and their cigars . most are of the mild smokes and remind me alot of Ashton VSG line but the price is very low. How long will the cigars remain fresh in the cedar box? I am not a heavy cigar smoker but have a few friends who stop by and it would be nice to offer them a good cigar. |

Cigars that are properly humidified and kept at the proper temperature will actually improve while they are in the humidor. Recommended numbers are 70 degrees F and 70 % humidity. Long Ashes... |

Long Ashes... I am sure I could find a place in my house where the temperrature remained 70 degrees F, but I doubt I would be able to maintain the 70% humidity. I have seen boxes of 20 and 50 cigars in the standard cedar case. I would hate to purchase a box of 50 to find they have gone bad in a month. The few cigars I smoke are usually puffed away within a week. If I stored the cigars at 70-75 degrees and 45% Humidity (my typical house conditions) how long can I expect them to remain fresh. There was mention of the cigar lady should I try to track her down or just purchase from the Duty Free Shop. |

The key is to buy an inexpensive humidor where you can control the humidity with humidification devices and a hygrometer. It sounds complicated , but it is really pretty easy to do. |

All this sounds like keeping a good bordeaux. Same deal but 12 degrees cooler. |
