| Post subject: | Jaco Trip .. Hotel Cocal or the new Jaco Del Rey? |
Taking a partner and a couple of friends to San Jose for a bachelor party long weekend. Our plan is to stay at the Del Rey in San Jose Thursday night, then drive to Jaco for Friday and Saturday nights. In the past, have stayed at the Hotel Cocal, but recently learned of the new Del Rey Hotel in Jaco. Can anyone offer a comparison? Rooms? Amenities? Beach? Nightlife? Chicas? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Don't know if Del Rey Jaco is open. Heard it was under construction. Knowing Cocal and Del Rey San Jose, the Cocal wins hands down. Was at Del Rey San Jose on Friday and it was very mediocre. Cocal on Saturday night was another story. Prices are higher but very good quality. |

This week I called the San Jose Del Rey, booked 3 rooms and asked to book 3 rooms at the new Del Rey in Jaco for two additional days. They said they would call me back with confirmation for the Jaco reservation. After they didn't call back for two days, I called them again and they said they would call that day with confirmation. Of course, they never called. Typical! So I booked rooms at the Cocal instead. Del Rey Jaco lost 3 rooms for 2 days because of poor service. Wonder how often that happens? |

If indeed Cancions del Mar is the place that DR has purchased, it won't be a DR style hotel since that place has only suites. No one in Jaco seems to know anything about it. Talked to several people well connected in Jaco today and all I got was "haven't heard a thing" about the Del Rey Jaco. Also have not noticed any new construction in Jaco of a new hotel and I've been through there 5 times in the last week. |
