I know the DR spreads 1/2 every afternoon starting about 5-6pm, and the Horseshoe typically has 1/2 starting at 2ish. The DR on rare occasion has gotten a 2/5 going, but has to be a busy weekend with the right people there.

When I was there may 3-5 the horseshoe was locked up tighter than my ex wife's ..... Well, you know.

Casino was closed for "renovations" but poker open. Poker is now closed and I do not believe (at least from a source as be of the guys running the game) that it will NOT be reopening. There are obviously other cash games at Del Rey and Mona Lisa. But no one in Costa Rica runs daily tournament action like No Limit. If you click on the link I provided above you will find arguably the best information for ongoing poker tournaments and series. Everything from a weekly ladies night event (ladies first entry in what I remember being either a 5,000 or 10,000 colones rebuy) to monthly multiple-day events. If you need help translating any of it feel free to pm me.

Edited to correct: put NOT in front of the reopening comment. I do not agree in editing posts but I made a major typo creating that message on a mobile device and felt editing was the correct option as I do not intend to provide incorrect info.

I agree. I don't even bother playing in that game. Bunch of shortstacks just nut peddling. I much more prefer a looser deepstack game.

The crazyiest game in town is 4 days a week in the Wyndham Fiesta ( Old Hotel Ramada Herradura). They play 1k 2k colones last monday it was over 30 millions colones in the game 7 handet /60k 2-4 usd blinds. I played there myself and the players are a mix off local ticos with cash and some gringos. Funny game with a lot off jokes in both spanish and english.

That is great to hear about the old Heradura hotel! Great cash games as well as tournaments a couple years whiz. Personally have not heard much about it lately and thought it had died off and maybe become victim of the excessively increased table game taxes. But great to hear it is sill going. They take great care of players food and beverage wise also!

The poker game at the horseshoe has moved to the Mona Lisa. Cards in the air at 2 pm every day. Game has been playing big and usually until 5 am.
