I am planning a 2 week trip to CR for surf casting-kayak fishing.Would like to stay between Jaco and Dominical.Has anyone here had experience with a kayak fishing charter or rental in this area? Is surf cast fishing popular in this area? Thank you in advance.

I know there's a guy in jaco that does surf fishing tours, he charges 150$ full day or 100$ if you bring your own gear, i'll try to find his business card for you. The only place i know of that rents fishing kayaks is in puerto jimenez i would think you could get one in quepos. Imo the best place for kayak fishing would be quepos/man antonio or puerto jimenez area the water 1 mile out is usually very calm.

I personally was just getting into this before being in a really bad accident in Costa Rica about 7 months ago. Not many companies or guides that I have noticed. I got started with Kayak fishing when I saw a friend with the set up. Bought myself a kayak and started joining him for daily (morning) trips in the beach town we live in.

Unfortunately I have not been able to go for quite a while, but hope to return very very soon!

CR Golfer: Sorry to hear you were hurt that bad.

If you would, can you post (without invading your privacy in any way as to what happened) how the ambulances and hospitals worked, how did your CR or US or maybe travel insurance worked, what you recommend to those of us who just visit like me or who live there should do in advance regarding insurance, family/friend notifications and whatever other advice you would allow?

Human nature to think we are bullet proof until it happens, and then it happens, and then also quite worse when it happens in a distant place.

I know you may feel this is an invasion but I think your experience will be of great benefit to this board.
I absolutely understand if you think I am out of line and choose not to respond.
