Madmax,

We are having great weather.... cold morninhgs but totally clear skies almost all days...

I have never done rafting in Dec, however I assume the water level has drop down since is not raining at all.

Mente

I did whitewater around Christmas time. It was great. These whitewater trips are very professionally done and very enjoyable. They said that the rapids we went over included some Class III and some Class IV. I don't know the name of the particular company I went with, but they were the only ones that offer service either from San Jose or from Puerto Viejo (and also now from somewhere around Arenal). I recall from the map they showed us that there seemed to be three main rivers for whitewater, and it was my understanding that these were the only three rivers suitable for this in the country. All three rivers were more or less between San Jose and the Carribean coast, although they were slightly to the north of San Jose. The river I went on was "Pascuaro" or something like that. My main point is that you can do this trip from San Jose. Also, this particular company offers a two-day trip, with an overnight stay in a lodge beside the river. This is perfect if you have someone special to share the experience with. I recommend whitewater to all my brothers who have some extra time on their hands in San Jose.
