It's well on it's way to completion and is quite obvious just off the road to Jaco...gonna be a huge place. Hear it should open in March of next year so only 6 months away. Will have 171 rooms, 1000sq meters of meeting rooms 1500sq meters of display spaces, 3 bars, 2 restaurants one of which will be a rooftop dining area not to mention the rooftop pool and what they are describing as a "Las Vegas" style casino. They are also putting in a some 'green' technology like solar water heaters, energy efficient lighting and reuse of waste-water in garden/lawn areas. Quite a project and should be worth seeing when it's open. They are also going to try to hire disabled and single mothers (part of a social program). Wonder what the 'guest' policy is going to be like. Interesting article if you can read Spanish at: http://periodicoelimparcial.wordpress.c ... ambiental/ |

Wonder if any of the favoritas will apply. ![]() ![]() This is the article translated Quote: SONESTA HOTEL CASINO will open with a revolutionary proposal of social and environmental responsibility
Posted on July 28, 2012 by newspaper El Imparcial San Jose, July 28, 2012. By: Guido Toro Hotel style incorporates concept "Las Vegas" Hiring people at risk and zero pollution are part of the Social Responsibility and Environmental ESCAZÚ Sonesta Hotel & Casino, which hopes to open its doors to tourists and visitors from next March 2013. SONESTA seeks to integrate its business plan with local social development, for example, "is expected to hire people with disabilities, and single mothers," to support those most in need, which will result in a greater sense of personal gratification to the company, explained Renaud Dugert, EXT CFO of development. Furthermore, this environmentally friendly hotel uses solar energy to heat water; gives priority to electric or hybrid cars, and also uses rainfall and discharges of treated wastewater for irrigation of the green. The previous effort put in sync to the hotel with the regulations of the Ministry of Health, regarding the handling and disposal of sewage. All SONESTA environmental measures, coupled with the use of energy saving lamps, aim to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), a U.S. accreditation to the Green Building Counsil (Green Building Council ) that focuses on reducing the environmental footprint. This was explained ESTRUCONSULT engineer, Orlando Gei, by the architectural design, electrical and mechanical of the new hotel. "Las Vegas" in Escazú SONESTA not just a hotel, but a center of fun and entertainment, local visitors and tourists can use as a meeting point. The goal is that people have ample opportunities for entertainment under one roof, as "shows", bars, restaurants, "outlets" and games. People can start the day and end the night in the same place, said Johnathan Raineau, President of EXT development. One restaurant will be located on the roof, "8 or Rooftop", which will offer the concept of food-from farm to table, which chains to small businesses that offer organic products. The idea is to have a relationship with small farmers social responsibility, and in turn, offer clients creative dishes using fresh produce from the field, said Daniel Saenz, chef of "8 or Rooftop". Investment Although the hotel and ended his gray work stage, today unveiled several details via a press conference held in facilities that are located in Escazu, close to Multiplaza and near the "Golden Mile" , commercial and business center, with direct access to Prospero Fernandez Highway. Besides investors, builders, and staff, attended the Tourism Minister Allan Flores, who noted that their presence is due to government support to investors, and also applauded the effort that has included sustainability SONESTA and also promotes the portfolio Flores. The reversal of the franchise granted by Sonesta Collection, and operated by GHL Hoteles, is $ 40 million, will generate 300 direct jobs, 900 indirect, will feature 171 rooms, 1,000 m 2 of business areas, 3 bars, 2 restaurants, plus "8 or Rooftop" restaurant with pool on the roof of the hotel and offer a great panoramic view of the city, while the shows and casino games provide an area of 1,500 m 2. |

Thank you for posting the translation, ID ![]() Maybe while they are at it - maybe they will put up a sign from the main road (from the Highway - Pan American Highway??) from the airport to the new highway to Jaco (only thing I can think of its "Muy Tico" for something talked about for 15 years and finally built to still be a secret as to how you get to it!) You can bet there will be signs to this new casino/hotel complex! I was told they are going to put up signs for the autopisa to Jaco, but as of earlier this year they had not (and I learned where to pick up the highway when I rented from Hola, but they should make it easier) |
