A Federal judge has just ruled that poker is not gambling because it's a game of skill, not chance. See this: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/25/opini ... skill.html
This author has written 2 books on poker, one a history of the game, the other his experiences at Binion's World Series of Poker: http://www.amazon.com/James-McManus/e/B ... sr=1-2-ent

correct, it is a game of skill. This can be explained quite easily, My friend and I go to Foxwoods alot and play texas holdem....for some reason I usually make money (made several final tables in large tournaments) and he ALWAYS loses money (he sucks at poker). If it was strictly a game of chance, his chances of winning would be the same a mine so in the long term we should both win or lose the same which is not the case.

Probably the Palacio, Casino out by or at Bestwestern Irazu and Colonial. Friend plays there and says it is a little easier to bully there. Just hearsay, only played at Palacio once or twice. But he does seem to do quite well.

Texas hold em at the Horseshoe across from the HDR. Starts around 2pm if you want to find a game that gets going a little earlier.

I highly recommend the Horseshoe game. The room managers are very accommodating and I was treated very well. This was last April. I will be spending another week in CR in January and will be playing there most days.

I was not able to play a game at the Del Rey. Showed up one night and the game hadn't started and I didn't feel like waiting.
