Thanks for the bump Brother C'dude. This listing has the old-style phone numbers--I'd x-ref this list against another source maybe Trip Advisor or an ICT official site. There are also private galleries with genuine artwork for sale--that'd take some digging--maybe start with the UCR or other university art department. This thread is a refreshing change of pace and an artwork buying trip works as well a justification for being here as a fishing trip. |

Be careful when you tell your friends you went to a gallery or museum. When I visited the museum in Medellin I got a lot of shit from my buddies about it....wasn't the manly thing to do when pu*sy shopping |

Good point about the phone numbers. Another weird thing about the post that I noticed is that 2 of the 5 museums listed aren't even in San Jose or even cities most of us would ever visit (one is in Limon and another is Puntarenas). And yet it fails even to mention 2 of the most popular museums in San Jose (the Gold Museum and the Jade Museum). Here is a link to a more recent (and complete) list of museums in San Jose including brief descriptions, hours and new phone numbers: http://www.costarica.com/places-to-see/museums-&-gardens/san-jose-museums/ BTW, I know what you mean about sometimes catching shit from some buddies along those lines. What I do is tell them (or at least think to myself) that guys who are truly confident in their own sexuality shouldn't really give a damn about what some fool thinks is too "girly" and maybe THEY'RE really the ones with the true problem. |

Not really a problem since all the numbers listed are land line phones. Just add a 2 as the first digit. |

The Museum of Contemporary Art is just across the street from the National Library. There are always new exhibits. I've hit all of the other museums, Gold, Jade, National. The Theatro Nacional has a lunchtime program that's pretty inexpensive as well. I can't drink expressos at the DR all afternoon every day before ZB or happy hour at Harry's or SL. ![]() |
