In the next 6 months I will be spending about 30 days in SJ. During that time I would like to go to some sort of event at the new national stadium. Where can I find a schedule of upcoming events online?

Thanks for the click-thru to Estadio Nacional. I see that Elvis Presley is appearing the day before my birthday--I always wondered where the ol'boy had gone. But seriously there are 2 things of interest that may be unknown to us:
1) De Vrienden van Amstel a large musical troupe of pop/rock/R&B players doing all in 1 concert:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SosXgLBOUY << like old-skool R&B sung in Dutch?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4gviXIvRIY << soft rock in English

1) Apassionata a duo blending neo-classical with New Age/ethnic musics. Think: Andrea Bocelli--actually they have an album of just that (Mr. Bocelli's music). Because they named themselves after one of Beethoven's more popular pieces with hundreds of renditions, I gave up looking for vids

That sure makes it simple for the concerts. How about the sports events?

I hear that the 2013 Super Bowl will be at our new Chinese stadium. They will be serving rice and beans and spareribs to keep everyone happy.

The Pearl Jam show is the main reason i'm going. If you go you will not be dissapointed. I cant help as a wingman because i want to get ther early as Phuck to get up front. Can anyone tell me how far the stadium is from the Gulch?

It is very close. You can grab a bus that picks you up in front of the National Theater and will drop you off in front of the stadium. Bus is called Sabana Estadio. Or you can taxi it and depending on traffic 7-15 minutes. The bus will take you about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic as well. If you really wanted to you could walk there in half an hour to 45 minutes.

OG'n Sabana and the bus system...lol 8)
