Played quite a bit of BJ at Del Rey when i was in CR last May, but can recall some of the screwy rules. Can someone give me a quick rundown. Also, what times do the damn casinos open. i always thought the law was 3pm, but i read trip reports where it sounds like guys are playing earlier. Any suggestions on where to play are also welcomed. |

Law was changed allowing casinos to open at 11:00 A.M. HDR advertises that the "Kings Poker Room" is open 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. |

Del Rey doesn't have blackjack. You were playing Rummy. There is no 3:2 payout for BJ and if the dealers draws to 21, it's a push. |

Rummy? I swore the table said blackjack. It was in the poker room and seemed pretty similar. Is there anywhere in SJ that has normal bj? |

The poker room at the Del Rey use to have a Blackjack table but they have removed it. I believe the Horseshoe has blackjack but I can't confirm that. |

Colonial Casino (next to the Del Rey...attached to the Sleep Inin) Has both Rummy & Black Jack ... just check the sign on the table and this also goes for the Horseshoe (Across the Street diagonally from the Del Rey) this has both as well ... in matter of fact ... if the Horseshoe is not busy and you are the first at the table, you can request a rummy table to be turned into blackjack and vice versa. The Colonial is typically more crowded ... but the Horshoe will give you complimentary beverages of your choice ![]() I belielve the Smokey Azz Morozan has Black Jack as well, but don't hold me to it ... haven't been there in sometime ... unless your a smoker or you like smelling like an ashtray the rest of the night ... don't even bother .. it's tight and it's smokey... not much eye candy ... don't go for the ambiance ... go only to gamble it mostly filled with locals. I wonder if that old lady still has that "everlast" cigarette on her bottom lip that never seemed to burn the hell out ... amazing!!! ![]() Oh yeah ... and let's not forget the Dunn Inn ... It's newly opened ... I have never been there, but my understanding is that there is a black jack room .... from readings of other post there sounds like there could be some less advantagous conversion of dollars to colones or vice versa as far as the consumer is concerned .... so if that matters to you ... then research more Good Luck to you. |
