Heading down for my first trip to CR in a couple of weeks. Will be in SJ for a little over a week so will get the chica time in but will have three or four days to get out of town so a buddy and I are looking to get out to the coast for a few days. Looking for someplace that has a decent beach and some nightlife so there is something to do in the evening. Maybe throw in a fishing excursion or zip lining during the day.

Have seen some posts on Manuel Antonio and Puerto Viejo, but would appreciate any suggestions.

My suggestion for beaches is either Puerto Viejo or the Jaco/Manuel Antonio area. Favorite beach for just laying around is probably Playa Hermosa. Couple of bars close, something to watch (surfers) and close enough to all the stuff in Jaco to make it fun. A day trip from that area to Manuel Antonio is easily done as well.
Puerto Viejo is more laid back, less night life (very few P4P girls) but I like the vibe a lot more than the Jaco area. Some of the beaches in that area (especially the one in front of Pac55s favorite hotel) are incredible white-sand beauties but usually, pretty lonely. The beaches closer to town are busier with hotels, bars and restaurants close by.
Either of those will have any of the adventure tours like zip lines or ATVs as well as fishing. I'm not a fisherman (seasick) but I think the better fishing will be on the Pacific side. Most friends I know fish out of Jaco (Los Suenos) or Quepos.
Hope that helps and feel free to PM me if you have any questions...
