Hey guys, I was wondering if a day trip is possible and practical for MA Park? Does anyone know if it can be arranged in any hotels (preferentially Sportsmen)?

It's possible and your hotel would be able to arrange it for you. More than half your day would be spent driving there and back.

Hmm thanks for the info man, is a day trip to Jaco worth it then? I heard the beach there is not the greatest.

Whoever said the beach at Jaco is not the greatest was being really nice. Manuel Antonio National Park is worthwhile to see; it's sort of the rain forest meeting the beach, whereas Jaco is sort of sewage runoff meeting the beach. With the new toll road it doesn't really take that long to get to Jaco or Manuel Antonio. A lot of the day trip tours to MA will probably be on a large bus that will stop at multiple hotels picking up and dropping off other passengers. If you were to hire a driver or rent your own vehicle the drive to MA would probably take about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Other options would be to fly there or even take a public bus. Ideally I would try to get to MA early in the morning, before the heat and crowds.

A day trip to MA is feasible, but it will make for an early morning and late evening. Most of the gringo hotels in SJ offer day trip packages with a tour company.

As Skink suggested ... I recommend you "do it yourself" rent a car, book a hotel and spend at least a night in MA, It's worth it. You may want to check on the condition of the road from Quepos to MA... I heard it sustained significant damage during the recent torrential rains.

Thanks Skink for your input, are there any companies that offer reliable drivers to MA or should I just try to arrange them in my hotel (Sportsmen Lodge)?

take the bus i think its $6 each way and it will drop you off right on the beach. either way agree its better to spend at least a night there. if you meet a nice girl she will almost certainly join you and can help to navigate a bit. probably get the whole package for the cost of tour bus both ways.

If you don't want to rent a car, or take a bus... Interbus https://www.interbusonline.com/Reservac ... /paso2.asp offers another option for $40 one way. I use Interbus when I don't rent a car.
