I haven't been a very good contributor to the site, I read better than I write. Regardless some friends and I are thinking about doing a short trip to CR later this spring. We would like to do the white water rafting, which I have done, maybe a day of four wheeling and play a couple - three rounds of golf. My last foray into the golf scene was not that happy. I found that the selection of golf courses quite limited, and were basically private. Can anyone suggest courses in SJO open to the public? Thanks for the advise. |

Irish Drifter wrote: What ID said. I have played several times there. IMO, it's a fun track, fair price, good quality rental clubs (Taylor Made), good fore-caddies, that can grreatly speed up your round as at many times, it is difficult to determine the line and distance you want to land the ball. I've never found it crowded and therefore able to maintain a good pace of play. Bring your own balls (um...golf balls) as they are expensive and glove and tee's. La Iquana at Los Suenos resort near Jaco is a fun course. It is considerably more expensive than Valle del Sol. |

Go to www.EZlinks.com and check out the specials in Costa Rica. They have very good prices. Valle Del Sol is $29.14 including a cart. Only late tee time like 11am, but hey I hope you are not up too early after partying in SJ ![]() Cariari is a good track also, narrow and deceptively long. I wouldn't recommend playing from the tips unless you are 10 or under. Also, they require you a caddy for non-members. $25 plus tip. |

We used to play at Los Reyes CC in La Guacima (start from the town of Belen near the airport) you may still see signs. It's only 9 holes, lots of hills and difficult to get a cart. Caddies were available. However, the place has a nice outdoor restaurant and pool. We switched over to Valle De Sol. But for a diversion, check out Los Reyes. |

Their info says $94.00 for non-natives. Apparently that is not the case. I want to play during 14th-16th of July. Others???? How much is the rental set? $35.00 ??? |

If you come here (to CR) often, get a CR driver's license. You'll need a valid current U.S. any state issued license, that and some other minor inconveniences (a quickie medical exam and blood type exam) and a few bucks and you're in. At either place, in the past if you show that CR license you'll get the local resident rate for green fees. |
