...And here from the company name, I thought they were talking about the del Rey (I thought this Board pretty much covered that). But I digress...
Boats from 28' to 98', English-speaking captains, affiliates for tours, they doubtless have still/ video cameras aboard to catch your piscatorial exploits...They seem to have it all. Nifty videos on the site. What's our resident fishing expert, Brother MuchoGusto's take on them?

And BTW didn't we have / don't we have another charter outfit (HookedOnCostaRica) as a Sponsor? What's their take on this? One better than the other? 6-5 pick'em? Rude questions to be asking?

Jazz,

Since you (and maybe others) were curious, I did a little "research". I've talked to a few people, and "word on the street" is that this new sponsor is a very well run organization. It's a "one-stop" shop. They can set you up with just about any type of day trip (or multi-day) trip, with numerous activities available and lots of different options.

How good are they? I have no personal experience with them, so I can't comment on that. But there are many, many of the same types of fishing & day-tour companies in CR who do the "one-stop" shopping. This new sponsor is not unique in this aspect, but some companies are better than others. Their prices are about average to above average.

Can they catch fish? Every captain and crew is different, no matter where you go or what company you fish with, so there's never any guarantees. But I do like the fact where they say that they "go where the fish are". You may think that almost sounds corny, or maybe it's just some marketing propoganda. But you'd be amazed at how important this one little sentence is. Many charter boats will take people out in the ocean and troll around all day, and then return to the dock at the end of the day, worrying more about using too much fuel versus going a little farther where the fish are chewing. If they catch fish... great. If not, oh well - just an unfortunate day on the water.

When I go fishing, I always do my homework ahead of time, and I'll drive an extra 30 or 40 miles around the ocean to the prime fishing grounds - if that's where the fish have been reported being caught. Nobody wants to pay upwards of $800 - $1,000 per day, just for a long boat ride!

If you're interested, your best bet is to give them a shot and report back. They're a CRT sponsor, and IMO - that should give them precedence before trying others.

My dos colones....

MG
