There was an article in the paper awhile back that said the tickets were already selling for 3 times the original price. This is the bigest game in a long time as the Ticos really really hate the mexicans when it comes to soccer. When CR played mexico 4 years ago in the world cup qualifier they had a mini riot which CR was penalized for. Take a taxi to the stadium in Tibas which is a little ways north of downtown and look around for scalpers there. That is how I bought tickets to a game 4 years ago. |

I went to the stadium about a week ago and there were three scalpers. I approached each of them separately (so that they couldn't be privy to the others' prices or negotiations). All three asked for five times the ticket price and wouldn't come down. It reminded me of some experiences I've had from time to time at the DR and, as experience has taught me, sometimes the smart thing to do is just say "No gracias" Afterwords, I talked to the security guard at the clinic across the street from the stadium who thought that the tico price would be four times the regular price. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Big game, mexico are back in form and will be looking for a road win,i was at the last game v mexico,in good seat's,tman.rbc, admin, novice and a few chica's for a crt night out...it was a great nite out apart from the result..mexico 2 cost rica 1.The smelliest bathroom ever and no jumbo screen for replay,at the end the mexican player's got lot's of object's fired at them....i would say get to TIBAS early and look for scalper's..also the whole country will be watching everywhere and you'll have fun in the bar watching as well.especially saving 100,000 colones, the big screen on avenida central will be showing the game... |

My crew and I are also hoping to score some tix for this game. Hopefully not at 5x face value. Are there no ticket brokers in CR? Dont mind scalpers but just want to be sure we dont buy any fakes. |

Be very careful buying tickets for this match. There are so many counterfeit tickets being sold that they are going to issue new tickets. An article from Inside Costa Rica this morning. Quote: Soccer Fans In Costa Rica To Get New Tickets For Mexico Game Costa Rican soccer officials have decided to reissue tickets for the Mexico game, a critical World Cup qualifying game, after reports that the market is flooded with counterfeit tickets. The announcement was made on Wednesday for all tickets for the September 5 game that is the be played at the Saprissa stadium in Tibás. The game is to determine which team advances to take part in next year's World Cup in South Africa. Costa Rica leads the CONCACAF qualifying with 12 points. The United States and Honduras are behind with 10 points each and Mexico with 9. The top three automatically advance. The new tickets are expected to go on sale beginning today and holders of counterfeit tickets will have some explaining to do when they try to trade in the fakes for the real. The decision by the Federación Costarricense de Fútbol to replace the tickets was based on "solid rumours" of the counterfeiting. |

Does anyone know the price of the tickets? I can do the math if they cost 4 or 5 time the face price. thanks BND |

BND, The face value of the tickets I was offered was c8,000 (upper level, mid-field). The scalper was asking c40,000. But at this point, I'd be very hesitant to buy anything from a scalper. Special Ticket http://www.specialticket.net/mexico.html has not had tickets on sale since hours after they went on sale a couple months ago. The latest estimate was that there were potentially several thousand counterfeit tickets out there, prompting the reissuing of new tickets referred to in ID's post above. I'm not sure how to distinguish the newly issued, valid tickets from the older ones. |

This is a must win for both teams. Mex rarely wins in CR. The ticos are +140 to win...not a bad bet. |

Mexico 3 CR 0 Mexico completely out played CR on their own turf. Hopefully a wake up call for CR as we head into the final 3 games. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/round?leag ... =4&cc=3888 |
