Since we've been on a roll lately with posts on unusual "sports" to play while in CR, maybe you guys should consider "Tico Tennis". Okay, nobody really calls it that but maybe they would if it ever took off in CR. Here in the US, it is known by many different interesting names such as Hillbilly Golf or Hillbilly Horseshoes, Redneck Golf, Ladder Toss, Ladder Ball, Testicle Toss, Dingle Balls, and many others.

It is a lawn game played by throwing a bolo of two golf balls connected with a rope at a 3 rung ladder (usually made of PVC pipe). The rungs are uniquely valued at 1, 2 & 3 points, but the exact order can vary. The basic goal is to be the first team to score exactly 21 points and the exact rules beyond that can vary considerably as well.

The game is often played while tailgating at sporting events. Though I've never heard of it being played at a mongering event (since other "sports" capture more interest), it could be an interesting pastime to try out in between chica sessions at the next CRT anniversary party.

Anyone ever played the Italian game of "Bacci" ? Each player has 4 balls (softball size) and they try to get as close to the object ball (called "the bellini). Another great yard game. Almost as good as "Jarts" - or Lawn Darts !!!

I used to play that when I was a K*D (and was pretty damn good at it too, if I do say so myself), which just goes to show what a strange sort of K*D I was since the usual image of the game is a bunch of old italian guys playing in the back alley while smoking their toscanos (the same way shuffleboard hasn't exactly been embraced by the younger generation). It is actually spelt bOcci (with an O) or sometimes boccE and is pronounced baw-chi.

I've seen but haven't played Hillbilly Golf and my brother, who plays bluegrass music at hillbilly hootenannies, has been raving to me a lot about it lately.

What a great idea! And talk about a complete Website for it! My only cavil is the name "Hillbilly Horseshoes"--I mean most of the hillbillies I know (they're called "Pineys" here cuz they live deep in the Pine Barrens) play real hoseshoes and might find this sport a bit poofy. Other than that...
I expect to see a setup at the next TB Outdoor Chapter meeting...

Thought by now the pine barrens would have fallen to the relentless march of the housing developers.

Maybe the Jersey Devil is keeping them at bay.

We don't really have any hillbillies here in Florida either since we don't really have many hills. We call ours "Rednecks" or "Crackers". The term "Cracker" is something unique to Florida (like your "Pineys" is unique to your area). Our term comes from the sound made by the leather bullwhips that were used by the early Florida cowboys. Today, Florida is one of the few places left in the US where cowboys still ride horses rather than dirtbikes due to the terrain which can get swampy in places. But for most of the rednecks in Florida, the horseshoe is about as close as they get to the animals their granpappies used in their work and they definitely enjoy a good game of tossing the iron. That said you definitely see hillbilly golf sets from time to time when you go to parks where they're having a picnic.

Here's another question for you. Who do you think plays their music louder in public parks? Rednecks with their country music or Latinos with their reggaeton? I'm not sure which I find more irritating and annoying.
