If your a real guy you'll play half-ball--cut that tennis ball in half...and it better be well-used.

That's what we played when I was a K*D. Until this thread did not know some folks used a whole tennis ball. Perhaps the reason for the different game is the amount of space you have available to use as a field.

here is how we played it.

just two of us sometimes.

one would stand in front of a wall with a broom handle, while the other would pitch the tennis ball.

if the hitter missed, the ball would bounce back to the pitcher.

never heard of the half ball option, but it makes sense.

thanks for bringing up the topic!

is there room anywhere on the Sportmans Lodge grounds for such a game?

Anybody ever play punchball?

We played that in grade school. It's like baseball but you punch the ball (with closed finegrs, not knuckles) and run the bases. You used rubber blue or peach colored "skybounce" balls for $1 in every corner bodega/deli.

Wiffle ball was king when I was in college. We set up a great field at our Apt complex and bought 2 dozen wiffle balls and 6 bats every semester!

Big square on the wall. If you threw the ball inside the square...steeeeerike. Everyday from 4-6. What else were you supposed to do in college? Except drink. Just West of the stadium on Pensacola St.

Never picked up coal but we did use to put pennies on the track and let the train flatten and enlarge them.

All of them except collecting bottles but we did collect newspapers and take them to the salvage yard and sell them. That required the cooperation of our fathers to take us and papers in the car.
