Post subject: | Great Straight-Razor Shave |
Hello Gents, I have been going to CR for many years and almost every time I go I partake in a Straight-razor shave at a barber just up from Idem, but he has closed down. The last trip I jumped in a taxi and he drove me around until he finally found a place that did a shave and it was great, but i don't think I would ever find it again. Any suggestion for a shave? If you haven't done this I highly recommend it...You'll face will be so smooth you won't have to shave for three days. |

Mann, sounds great , but I just don't know if I'd want someone that close to my juggler with a razor. I know I'm probably silly about this but Mach 3 for me. |

Lex, South of Idem on Calle 11 and across the street is a place called Maritza's. Operated by a couple of sisters they offer a great straight edge shave. Also, one can get a haircut, manicure and facial massage as well. Thanks to Don Gordo for introducing me and many others to this great little shop. They have three chairs and can get busy at times, or stop by on your way to Relax, La Mansion or Idem and make an appointment. |

Standing in front of the National Theater. Look accross the park and benchs. There is a building with 3 levels. Open air on the theater side. On the third floor, Bella Salon. Irma works there with her Daughter Mellisa and a Nica name N*na. Irma gives a good straight razor shave. Phone is 2258-3313. Oh yea they do not speak much english if you call. |

Told them that I was a friend of DonGordo and HolaB, in order to ensure good service. Don't remember her name, but it was the girl on the left who took care of me. I loved the haircut, the pampering, the scalp and shoulder massage and the manicure. However, I honestly didn't enjoy the shave. I've had straight razor shaves with good old fashioned razors that were sharpened with a hone and strop and was hoping for a similar experience. She used a disposable blade and it hurt. Afterwards, my facial skin was bumpy and a bit bruised. I have much greater success with my Mach 5 power turbo razor. Obviously, YMMV, because I've heard many guys rave about the shave and return over and over. In retrospect, perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned HolaB. ![]() Ciaociao |
