I will be in Costa Rica 15 May to 25 May and am planning to fish. I am flexible on the location but prefer the Pacific. I would like to get a group together or join others to share the boat. Respond here or PM me if interested. Thanks........... |

Tight lines HOU. PR, is there a Brooklyn Dodgers Star Too? What about the Washington Brewers? Do they have a star? How much do the stars cost now a days? What is the Bills new city? Any truth to the rumor the Yets are moving? It must really suck to be a yets fan. Good luck with that, amigo. |

I am bringing my favorita pole, the TEJAS TELESCOPIC. After Mucho Gusto upgraded it last trip with high viz, 100 lb test line, I will be seeking the muy grande pescar. Trouble is, the reel only held about 10 meters of line. Seriously, the current reports out of the southern pacific region and crocidile bay are impressive. But I prefer to make final plans a couple of days before based on the info at that time. |

The Tico Times has a very good section on the regional fishing activity. An email to the editor, Jerry, will also be answered with the very latest reports to him. Also the Crocidile Bay website from Tod Stanley has monthly reports. And as you probably know our own Mucho Gusto keeps up to date and is very helpful. |

The reports that I've been hearing lately - is that the winds are still blowing pretty good to the North, from the Pacific side of the Nicoya Peninsula - all the way up towards Nicaragua. The billfish bite is still good in the Southern part of the country (Golfito, Zancudo, Osa Peninsula), and it's really turning hot along the Central part of the country (Jaco, Quepos, Los Sueños). Pretty good numbers of Blue and Striped Marlin have been caught, and the Sailfish bite has been about normal. Plenty of Dolphin (Mahi) and Tuna out there also. I heard of a 68 lb. Bull Dolphin caught 2 weeks ago, about 18 miles offshore, just South of Playa Hermosa, with several other gaffers at over 40 lbs. Also, a few of the Yellowfin Tuna caught were estimated at well over 100 lbs. That's a LOT of sushi !!! ![]() Good luck out there guys! MG ![]() |

If there is anyway of just making a day out of it that would work. I am staying at the DR from the 21st thru the 25th after a week fly fishing in Belize. If we could split a boat and have a few Ticas join us that would be most enjoyable. I am sorry but I have no connections for a charter but I am sure one could be arranged. Could be fun! FFTW |

I have fished Quepos and Jaco (Los Suenos) in the past few years as well as Flamingo with MG, all with some success. However, still trying to hook a marlin. 4 fisherman on the boat is the ideal number, IF THE BITE IS ACTIVE, which from current reports, it is. Obviously, that also reduces cost. FYI, it will be a one or two night trip away from SJO, unless you are up for some hard traveling. FFTW keep in touch. This could work out. BTW, have you fished the Savgre River in central CR for the Rainbows ? |

Hou: I am heading to Drake Bay, next week. While it has been a bit slow lately, my buddy (Fred a.k.a. El Gato out of Hotel Ojala) just sent me an e-mail stating there were good numbers of marlin just south of him. Tuna and dorado as well. I was there in feb. and we slayed them. But, that was then. I'll be fishing several days, so I will add to this in about a week and let you know how it is. Tight lines and tighter asses. ![]() |
