I may have limited days to visit both of these places (Tortuguro and Arenal) from out of San Jose.

Anyone know of any day-trip options for either or both of the places.

If not, could anybody recommend a travel agent who can assist me in this regard once I get there.

There are day trips to both destinations as well as many other places. All the major hotels have tour desks that will explain all the options available, prices and make reservations for you.
