Anybody know if the Fly fishing or Surf fishing is any good at Quepos or Puntarenas. Don't want to drop money on the guided trips as it will taking away from the mongering? Puerto Limon any info on fishing puerto limon?

A web search should produce the names of charter fishermen in the mangrove area north of Limon (Tortuguero). The mangroves swamps have large numbers of snook and tarpon during the right times of year and tides. For a fly guy, I think this area would be superior to the pacific coast.

I did not read your post carefully before responding. Surfcasting with bottom rigs and bait might work well along the coast near Limon or on th pacific side as well. I have also seen folks fishing for roosterfish with bait off the ship dock in Puntarenas. Surf casting near the mouth of a river such as at the beach at the river mouth in Tamarindo might work too.
