Hello All,

Me and a friend will be staying at SL Dec 6-10. The kind lady who made our reservations said that they could charter us a boat for whatever day we wanted after we arrived. I am just wandering if I should make arrangements on my own or trust that we will be able to get a boat for that Sat or Sun. I am inclined to trust, but would hate to have no pictures to show "others" when I return.

You need to find out more before booking. It is at least two hours each way to the Pacific coast and that could make for a long long day unless you take the White House Hotel helicopter to the coast which takes 20 minutes. I think you would better enjoy your day on a charter it you spent at least one night at the beach. Mucho Gusto is an expert on Flamingo area charters. PM him.

How much is the helicopter to the shore?

Thanks EL Viejo,

Don't mind the drive. If need be we could just stay in Jaco that night. I think a helicopter might be a bit much for us.

Jaco is not one of my normal destinations, but I believe that if you book a charter for a day out of Quepos that is only 30 minutes from Jaco. When you consider how early charter boats leave in the morning, you'd enjoy your trip more if you spent the night before in a nice chica friendly hotel in Jaco. You could always drive back to SJ late that afternoon after your day of fishing.

Is Quepos really only a half hour from Jaco? Even so, that would be a really full day. I can't imagine the trip back to SJ after fishing if I had not had a shower. You would need to be careful of checkout times. I know I would be worthless after I got to SJ and got settled. I have always found the trip to the gulch longer than is quoted. Quote times to the edge of town may be OK, but traffic is always a bummer.

Two nights in Jaco would be easier on the body. Mongering is also available at the Beatle Bar.
