If so can you please give me some locations. Do they play American movies? How much do they charge for a movie?

Mall San Pedro is closest I think but someone correct me if I am wrong...Isn't there a cinema where you can order cocktails and basically sit in recliners/couches or even sit a bar and watch the movie? I heard there was but maybe someone was feedin me crap

By the way, the one I saw was....ready for this..."Chicken little" and yes it was in spanish. And no I don't speak Spanish but her 2 K*ds were happy as can be. As long as they are happy, I was happy.

The closest I know of is in Bario California about 100 meters west of Scotland Apartments where I'm staying. It's about a ten minute walk from the gulch but all uphill. It is on Callie 25 just off Central Avenue very close to the Nico embassy. They play American films (Shrek 4 is on now) but don't know if it is spanish voice-over or spanish subtitles with English dialogue.

It is the Cinepolis located in the Terramall in Tres Rios. On the road to Cartago maybe 15 minutes from the gulch.

Mall America is on the Circumvalencion 2 off ramps past San Sabastion as you are heading south from San Pedro towards Escazu. Take a taxi.

I went to the San Pedro Mall on a sunday. It was packed. The movie theater was small but Transformers was showing in English. I paid about 1500 colones. Are there any bigger theaters near SJ showing in English?

I saw Die Hard 4 on Saturday night at San Pedro Mall.

Ticket costs 1,700¢.
Large popcorn is only 1,100¢

Dirt cheap compared to the US.

last year, I went to the movie theatre about 2 blocks from the Presidente in the gulch. I guess it is still in operation.

Still open. It is located in the Omni mall. From Presidente turn left when exiting go 2 blocks, turn right at the clock Calle 3 (just past Mc Donalds). Entrance to the mall is on your right about half a block down. There is also an entrance on Avenida 1. Same mall as the Pizza Hut.

Next question is...Is Harry Potter playing at any of the theaters in San Jose?? I tried looking in a newspaper but had no luck.
And yes, I'm a Harry Potter freak...stand in line to get the new books and everything. Along those lines, anyone know a place to buy the new book when it comes out (in English)??

Some of the theaters that have it in English with Spanish sub-titles:

Cinemark del Este, Cinemark Escazu, Cinepolis, San Pedro mall.

Try 7th street books. Just north of the President.
