1. ghetto Roulette (no wheel--you gotta see this thing ![]() 2. Rummy (similar to blackjack) and maybe another card game 3. slot machines I think that's it. It's pretty small, about 5-6 tables, roulette, and maybe couple hundred slot machines. Everything is pretty much low limit. I don't know if you can bet more than a couple hundred at a time. I never tried. The slots are 25cents/100colones I think. I don't think they have any high limit slots. Fairness at DR? What's that? ![]() I would not recommend attempting to play there to win anything. Go to Colonial next door for a real casino. DR Casino is just a way to pass time in between sessions. Playing low limits, getting free drinks, and enjoying the view. |

Allthough I don't like playing there, (for the reasons Orange outlined), I do feel Orange might have left out one game: They have 2 tute (Caribbean Stud) tables. LVSteve |

Del Rey Casino has to be THE WORST casino I have ever played at in my life... Let's talk about Tute... First off, the dealer takes, literally, over 5 minutes to shuffle between every play, which makes for an absolute bore of a time. Then, if you get a natural straight or better on your hand, they will literally STOP THE GAME for extended periods of time (I've sat there 30 minutes) so that they can "review the cameras". My personal take on the matter is they are watching to see if you just get sick of waiting and leave the table, thus them not having to pay you. This game is played much faster, much better, and much more honestly pretty much EVERYWHERE ELSE, so don't play here. Let's talk about Rummy... The mere fact that American Blackjack Rules are not played here puts the player at a disadvantage to start with. Even on my VERY FIRST POST on CRT, I warned people of the fact that the dealers have a tendency to overlook payouts when the player is drunk off their gord, which is as dishonest as it gets when speaking of casinos. I have personally seen rummies swept up quickly on players that were drunk with the intent of not paying him out. And YES, they WILL kick you off the table if you happen to be WINNING, I've personally seen it once with my own eyes... talk about crazy bullshit at a casino... This game is played much faster, much better, and MUCH more honestly pretty much EVERYWHERE ELSE, so don't play here. Plus there's a few places in the gulch that play actual American Blackjack, so check it out. Let's talk about Roulette... Actually, let's not, I've never played it at the Del Rey, but I've seen they use a Bingo Basket with balls instead of the traditional spinning wheel, which DOES look pretty ghetto, IMHO, but in no way implies there's anything dihonest or wrong being done here. All in all, go to Del Rey for its true purpose... pu*sy. Gamble at REAL casinos. Just next door is Colonial, Horseshoe, Morazon and Fiesta casinos are "rock-throwing" distance, and the Paradiso (my favorite) at the Amon Plaza is just a few blocks away (one block from ZB). So you've got plenty of choices!! Enjoy, Ruffnutz |

I have to agree with everything Ruffnutz said. The roulette is as ghetto as it can get. Not saying that they do this but what if they took out just one of the bingo balls (a seasoned gambler asked me about this on a visit to a different casino with the same type of table). How much does that change the odds in favor of the house. Has anyone ever asked for the balls to be counted? Rummy - the last time I played the limit was $150 and they are the slowest dealers around. Shuffle every two minutes. In my opinion if you want more of a casino atmosphere and higher limits go to the Fiesta Casino in Alajuela (near the airport). Just remember that the casinos are not regulated here so your chances of wining at slots are even less than in a US casino. |

In Rummy, here's a trick they have to make you leave (if you're winning)... when they shuffle, they put the cut card in the middle, instead of the end, which means that they will have to shuffle much more often. Eventually, the players just get annoyed and leave. I've seen them do this. They'll also switch dealers a couple of times. If all that doesn't work, they will actually accuse you of counting cards (cheating) and ask you to leave. |
