One of my coworkers is an avid fly fisherman and asked me to bring back info on fly fishing in CR. Apparently, it's a world-class place for the sport. Can anyone hook me up with some info? Will there be tour information and so forth at the SL? This guy is pretty serious about it, and is NOT a monger. |

If he's serious about it, he'll need to bring his own equipment. Not all charter boats are equipped for fly-fishing, and the ones that are - their equipment is usually "tired". Some of the charters that you find on the internet will even mention, that if you want to fly fish, you should bring your own tackle. And if he's an avid angler, he'd rather fish with his own equipment anyway. In the past, I brought my own rods/reels to CR many times, and it's not a problem flying with them. Most reputable fishing stores will sell "rod tubes" that are F.A.A. approved for travel. The reels can be packed in your suitcase. Actually, it's much easier than trying to travel with a golf bag or surf-board. Now, with an office in CR, I don't have to bring anything anymore. It all stays in CR. As for world class, he's absolutely right about that! MG ![]() |

What kind of flyfishing? Salt water flyfishing for snook and tarpon in El Tortuguero might work. Or is he looking for rainbow trout in higher elevation streams? A web search might be in order. |

![]() Absolutely! As long as they're not too shy, and aren't afraid to get naked. But you gotta bring enough to go around. ![]() Let me know when you get 4 of them lined up (one for me, my business partner, the captain & the mate). Bring them to the marina in the morning of our trip, and we'll take one helluva "booze cruise". I'll supply all the food and drinks. Sh*t, we might even catch some fish that day! ![]() But I got a feelin' that you'll be paying a lot more for the Colombiana's, than you would normally pay for a day of fishing! But, nevertheless, I'm a man of my word, and the boat will be free for that day! At least you can tell all your friends that you went "fishing" for free! MG ![]() |

Here's a pretty good link for a general overview of some of the places to go and fish in Costa Rica. http://www.worldheadquarters.com/cr/fishing/ I guess it really depends on what type of fishing your friend enjoys. Many links can be found by doing a Google search on; Costa Rica Fly Fishing. If he's looking for a multiple day fishing tour type of thing, you may want to check out this link. http://www.costarica-fishing.com That's just one of many sites that are available. If your friend is more interested in stream fishing for Trout, pass along this link. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/feature ... costarica/ ShyOne |
