Post subject:  Question about Rose wood

I recently bought a Rosewood box at the mercado. After about a month I noticed that the box was no longer closed flush. The wood has become warped and has gotten even worse in the past 2 weeks. I was wondering why this happened. Does this type of wood need some special care?

The wood is finished with a oil finish which will allow for expansion and contraction due to humidity. Refininsh it and seal with mlti coats of linseed oil or a coat of polyeurathane. Ask for help at Home Depot:)

This is the wood used on premium grips on pistols in custom made US autos.

I have paid big bucks to put them on my pistols.

Ace,
Is this wood the same or similar to "Coco-Bolo" grips? Several years ago, I bought a Colt Python .357 magnum, with a custom Coco Bolo grip. It's a beautiful cherry wood color. Actually, it's too nice to use on the pistol, so I've just kept the Pacmeyer grips on the gun.
Thanks,
MG

In CR they do not properly dry their woods. Many times they cut it & let it dry in the sun (no kiln trying) so as it drys it shrinks & warps.
