There are a few lively bars and a dance place or two in and around La Fortuna, so there is some nightlife. And like just about anywhere else in Costa Rica outside of San Jose and Jaco (where it's not required), if you have some game, you might have some luck. But if you're talking PFP, I don't think you're going to find a whole lot of options, so good idea to bring your own.
For activities, I would definitely suggest the ATV tour around the volcano. For $75 per person they take you go all over the place - including across a river - with some fantastic views of Arenal. Also, the Baldi Hot Springs are a nice and less costly alternative to Tabacon at a $20 entrance fee per person. They have a cool swim-up bar there - very relaxing place, but be careful with those Long Island Ice Teas...
