Walking from the Monkey Bar to the Tangeri last weekend, my black colombiana and I ran across the usual TVs. They usually are sitting/standing in front of Sunrise down past the Pacific Bistro. Never had a problem before--don't mind saying Hola when they say HALLO HONEY.
However, this group was the most aggressive that I have ever run across. Even with my chica, 5/6 of them started grabbing me, and I instinctively grabbed my wallet as they grabbed my unit. Had my colombiana not said VIOLENCIA in a tone that impressed everyone, it could have turned ugly.
We laughed all nite about it, but I could have lost my wallet, not to mention my virgin culo--beware on the weekends of this area of the street

I'm just guessing this was in JACO?

They may not be a problem much longer. I heard a little birdie say they were all gonna disappear soon. Could be a rumor or not, just passing along what I heard. The money here now don't like them.

Rdworld-
I have heard a lot of things lately, the police are taking drug dealers out of town and beating them up,etc, etc--and in view of all the high rise condo $$ coming to town, who knows what will be happening, putas asking 2/3 cien---whoooaa
My guess is it will soon be time to look elsewhere for paradise.
Jaco suited my needs 6 years ago, but I see a BIG DIFFERENCE coming very soon

Ya might want to check out Puntarenas...about 40 minutes up the coastal highway from Jaco. $50 all nighters and a few massage parlors day and night with some gems mixed in with gorditas. Beach is nice there also, especially busy on the weekends.

I'm wondering myself Diablo. But I'm hoping it can also go the other way and we might end up with a version of the BM at some point. I worry that we don't have the infrastructure to support all this new building. Don;t know about the police taking away drug dealers. It appears to me if they are actually aiding them or maybe the dealers are working for the cops. It's obvious to see who is selling drugs if they wanted to clean things up. In some ways though I think Jaco will always be Jaco.

The way you worded it, it sounds like they will disappear a la "the Sopranos".

Hey Tman,

do the chicas there have more of a stronger indigeneous blood line with a higher percentage of the locals from the original indian populace?

I met a little darling from there in San Jose and she looked different from the San Jose Ticas.

I mean she was attractive and all that, just had different features. She told me her pop was a pure blood indigenous indian and her moma a Tica.

If 8-10 businesses would ante up a clean up fee, all the "basura" de Jaco could be cleaned rather easily.

On my 2 visits to Jaco I was offered marijuana and cocaine within 150 feet of the police station. Go figure. I think drugs have a lot to do with all the muggings around the DR. The druggies/muggers need cash to buy more drugs. I wonder who gets a kickback from all the drug dealers, the police maybe. The Columbian organized crime groups are very sophisticated. The Costa Rican organized crime is probably similiar.
