All- 2nd timer bringing down 2 newbies. Staying 7 days in San Jose /Jaco and was going to take 1 or 2 day tours to re-coup from the ladies.
Thinking of Whitewater Rafting or Atv tour.
Several Questions that I could not find through the search feature:
Has anybody been on both trips? Which is better?
Any Specific suggestions with phone #'s,websites and price ranges?
Better to go out of Jaco or San Jose?
Any other suggestions that might be better than either of these? Would prefer something active .

HeadinG down May 19-26 if anybody else would like to go with.

Thanks, Elwayyy

I'd recommend the Canopy Tour and ATV tour. Never been WWR.

The canopy tour is fun on a nice hot and humid day in Jaco. :P It's all good though, you'll lose about 15 lbs just from sweating. There is a small hike up to the first platform usually. And the bottleneck of humidity in the rain forest is so refreshing...

ATV's are cool, but some tips for ya: go early before the rain starts around noon. It gets muddy so you will probably ruin whatever clothes you are wearing, wear the worst crap you own. I didn't know this, and I ruined a new pair of sneakers and jeans. That red clay doesn't come out in the wash. Long pants (not shorts) and boots are recommended. If it rains, be careful it gets slippery, especially when going up the side of the mountain. I had a near miss, I tried to swerve around a huge hole and my back wheels spun out and half my ATV was hanging over a 500 foot cliff. I was off that phucker in less than 1 second. I jumped over the steering wheel and started yelling for my buddy. It was just the 2 of us and our brilliant guide who was about a mile ahead of us. My friend helped me pull the thing back up.

Have fun.

If you PM me your email address I may be able to send you some photos from the Canopy Tour.
Last March a few of my CRT friends went on it and had a great time. They also had a DVD recorded and gave me a copy for my birthday.
The Disc is at home and I'm in the office right now so you'll have to wait until tomorrow morning.

Let me know.

My dos colones......

Elwayyy,
Since you're going to be near the coast, I'd recommend the White Water Rafting. There are several different WWR day trips available, and can be booked from just about any hotel in SJO.

The Canopy tour is great, but it so damn hot. You're in the jungle, and the trees are thick, and there is no breeze, thus making you sweat your ass off! It's a great time, but hot as hell. On the other hand, it's a great cardiovascular workout!

The ATV's are fun, but as Orange stated, you'll get muddy and grungy, especially since you'll be doing it during the rainy season. And you'll end up shit-canning your clothes from the day. And if you're not used to riding them (ATV's), it's real easy to lose control, and drive off the side of a mountain! But it's definitely a great time!

On the WWR trip, you're in the water, and you're travelling down the river. If you're hot, just jump in (in a calm area) and cool off. You'll be doing quite a bit of paddling, so it's a good workout also.

All 3 trips are a lot of fun, so it's up to you. But me, personally, I like to have the ability to cool off when I get hot and sweaty!

Whatever you decide to do, be careful and have fun! You'll be happy that you got out of the gulch, and tried something different, besides sport-phucking! (although that's a pretty good cardio workout also)!

Mucho Gusto
