Contrary to what I had heard, as of a few days ago, the Best Western Kamuk is not chica-friendly, at least not for take-in.

Sooo... I had to ask the chica for a short-time place, and she introduced me to Hotel El Parque, right around the corner from the Kamuk. Not much worse than Hotel Asia, but not much better. It was an unremarkable session.

The pickings were very slim. My chica told me that the girls are leery of gringos because one strangled a girl in Quepos a month ago and got away. Apparently the body wasn't discovered for three days. I do not read local news and I have no idea if this is true (sounds kinda incredible at the very least that a hotel -- I prefer not to say which one -- wouldn't have cleaned a room for three days). But if this kind of rumor is floating around, it is obviously having some affect on the action. If it is actually true, I imagine it could have caused a change in policy at the Kamuk, and possibly other hotels.

The story of the murder from A.M.CostaRica:
"Woman's body left behind in Quepos poses mystery. Investigators are seeking a man who speaks English who left the body of a woman in a Quepos hotel room he had rented.

Agents say they are stopping short of calling the case a murder. The man registered at the Hotel el Pueblo in Quepos Saturday and later was seen inviting a woman to his room.

Hotel workers did not discover the body until Wednesday. The man was said to be about 35. Hotel workers said he presented them at check-in with credentials saying that he was a diplomat stationed in Nicaragua. The dead woman was identified as Ana Patricia Guevara Rojas, 24, a mother of two."

I knew of Patricia, who frequented Mar y Blues(now called "On The Rocks") and Wacky Wanda's bar. She was a morena with long hair and a birth mark "lunar" in the middle of her eyes. I was told that her throat was cut. Sad news.
