Hey, I will be in CR for 18 days (!) in May and I'm on a budget this trip. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of non-mongering activities I can partake which are affordable? I want to stretch my colones but still want to have a good time. I will be spending my time with the ex-novia and her five year old son. Also don't mind paying for a hotel if it's best to spend the night, like at the beach. I enjoy live music, the theatre, the cinema and whatever is fun for the whole familia. Also looking for half day trips/events, she works and son goes to school.

Roundtrip ticket to CR with AA Advantage miles - $30
Staying with the ex-novia - $0 (yeah right!)
CRT website - Priceless!!

TP,

I suggest the zoo located in the vicinity of the rear of New Fantasy and also the Ch*ldren's Museum which is located about 5 or 6 blocks down the hill from New Fantasy and then you make a right. Both are good, cheap entertainment and the chicas really appreciate the "family" time you spend together at these places.

You need money to travel. Forget the budget trips. They have that great Brazilian Restaurant thats great and I think it was about $20 per person. Don't miss it. The zoo was nice for a few hours.

TP,

There is also the amusement park [I forget the name] about a 15 minute cab ride from the gulch area. It is a nice park.....up to American standards and the proceeds benefit the Ch*ldren of CR. You can buy a pass to ride the various rides all day, or they give you the option to pay for the rides as you go, which I think is the cheaper route. Again, this is quality "family" time together, that the chicas really appreciate.

Name of the amusement park is "Parque Nacional de Diversiones".

Might also consider "Ojo de Agua" which is a water park. Located on the road from the airport to San Antonio de Belen.

K*ds also like "Zoo Avenue" near Alajuela. Birds, monkeys, some wild animals, etc. Cheap for residents and K*ds about $9.00 for gringos. Should be less than $15.00 for you, a Tica and K*D.

"Butterfly Farm" also outside Alajuela. Think it can be pricey if you take a tour but if take a bus there and just pay the admission do think it is to bad.

Good luck.

Hotel Fiesta Resort in Puntareanus. On the water. You can book an "all inclusive" rate. Room, food, drinks. Great family atmosphere. Several swimming pools. Planned activities. Shows at night. K*D show and adult show. Disco. I checked Hotel.com for a weekend rate mid-may 2 adults and 1 K*D is $182 per night. But, you can probably do better on the rate. I have booked for 2 adults at about $130 to $150 per night.

Money is not an issue. I just want to make sure there are lots of things to fill my time for the 18 days I will be in Costa Rica. I just want to make sure I can have some alternative fun spending the cash, hanging out with the Tica and her bebe.

The plan is to hit the supermarcado and buy lots of food, she will cook for me for most of my trip, but we have plans on going out to dinner for drinks and dancing and possibly checking out a couple of bands someplace.

The water park sounds like fun!

18 days? I belive you can buy an airpass and see the entire country, cheaply.

If you plan to stay ay your gals house, may I suggest you take a Leatherman SuperTool as you may find some things in disrepair. If you are handy, you may be able to help improve their home. Lots of satisfaction for you and lots of appreciation from her. I have repaired electric, repaired locks on doors, window repairs, even built a bookcase with my Leatherman Supertool. The sex that night was phenomenal! Yeah!

I spent time with a chica and her baby during Semana Santa. Pay attention to the K*D. The chicas really like when you show a genuine interest in their K*ds. Go to a park, kick the soccer ball around with him. Doesn't have to be big places or events. Go for ice cream, a movie. Maybe rent a car and do a day trip to the beach.

Who knew? Fixing some shit around the house gets them so horny. If you ask me, that's another bartering opportunity for us.

Bob Vila would be a superstud in CR.
