Results:
Last nights first prize of $400.00 went to Graham (one of the owners of the Paradisio), while our good buddy Bill, of the Sportsmans Lodge came in 2nd and received $200.00
A good time was had by all (some 7 players) but VB and yours truly didn't make the cut.
Hope we see more players next Saturday. Remember, it gets underway at 8:30PM.

The weekly BJ tournements are restarting Saturday night (Feb 19th) at the Paradiso Casino in the Clarion (Amon Plaza) Hotel. The starting time is 8:30 and they are usually over by 10:30 so as to not interfere with a gentleman's "normal" Saturday night activities. The entry fee has been $50 with prize pools of around $1000.(depending on number of entries.) The Casino does not keep any of the entry fees so that all monies are returned in prize money. If you enjoy playing Blackjack I recommend them for a couple of hours of entertainment that isn't expensive.

Sorry I wont be there this Saturday to give you a run LVBob...but glad they are getting this re started. $50 with the chance to win 400-500 is a good value.. Any newbys playing...I would just suggest you sit next to LVBob and immitate his every move if you want to win... ...Ok...tie maybe.

I like blackjack but have never played in a tourney. How does it work? I'm assuming it's similar to a poker tourney where each player starts out with the same number of chips. Is it no-limit or is it a set bet each hand? Can somebody explain? Thanks.

That's the beauty of blackjack tournaments. In a short number of hands (20-30) it's not just knowing how to play the game but how to judge when and how much to bet in order to advance. You have to play your cards against the dealer as well as playing against the other players. You also have to know when to double down, split or surrender in times you would never do in a regular game based on where you are sitting and what the chip counts are. One time on a cruise I had to double on 12 and drew a 9. I would have moved from 5th place into 3rd for the money but the dealer drew to a 21 and we pushed! Kenneth Smith is a renowned expert in Tournament Blackjack. This link is to his website. Learn from it and give VB a run for his money. http://www.blackjackinfo.com/ Orange, You get a set amount of money. The button (first to bet and get cards) moves left with each hand. There is a minimum and maximum bet on each hand. You don't have to win at your table but you have to finish high enough to advance. Some tournaments allow you to rebuy if you've been eliminated. Most tourneys start each new table with the same number of chips (you don't advance with your chips like in poker). If you've never played blackjack tourney I suggest you do some study before jumping in with these sharks.

You guys analyze a $50 blackjack tournament like you do the chicas. It's ONLY $50 for a couple of hours of entertainment. We have some real beginners that have done well there.There have also ben some DR chicas make the final table.One of them even finished first one week. Since it is only 25 hands,the skill element is reduced so if you at least know HOW to play blackjack,then try it once and I'm sure you will have a good time.

Nah...I'll attest to what VB is saying here...while it helps to know the game and strategy...it comes down to the luck of the final 2-3 hands of the 25 hands as to who wins. I saw a CLUELESS chica take out VegasBob one night...it was not a pretty site. You have to know Bob to appreciate the roll of his eyes at this happening...LOL. Its almost the same as if he were forced to pay CIEN for an hour with a chica...
