Post subject:  Single Zero - Roulette with Wheel
This is particularly directed to Vegas Bob, TMan, Witling, and Gamblinman.

Are their any single zero, wheel (not bingo cage) Roulette tables in San Jose ? I've heard that the Colonial Casino has one, but unable to verify.

I am not a gambler. My idea of gambling is to drop a $20 bill in the toilet, flush, and hope that a $50 will float up. BUT I would be interested in playing a little roulette while resting up between Chicas.

I've read that the odds in Roulette are worse than any table game (not counting slot machines) If you bet on RED or Black, or Odd and Even, and discount the ZERO drop, aren't the odds truly 50/50 ? I understand that the ZERO is the house advantage, but isn't that possibility still 1 out of 37 ?

While I understand that each spin is a new calculation, what are the true odds of the wheel coming up say "BLACK" on 7 consecutive spins ?

And finally at a $5.00 table, what is the house limits on a single bet ?

Thanks for any light you might be able to share on the questions. I'm no so much interested in winning (or losing) big but just considering the entertainment value of gambling.

Though I don't play roulette giving up 5-6% house edge....

the Colonial & the Paradiso both have Regular roulette wheels. NEITHER has single Zero roulette both have zero & Double Zero...

I agree with Gamblingman. With a handle like his,how could I disagree? If you have no knowledge or interest in gambling but want to pass some time at the tables I would suggest that Tute is simple and more fun than roulette.(even though you have NO chance of winning in the long run you might get a lucky hand and make some money)

Speaking of casinos, Xman was basically asked to leave the Del Rey casino after taking them for a couple grand in Rummy. He had some serious luck, and he needed it too, to pay for all 40 chicas that weekend. :D

I have played roulette at the Colonial. It has 0, and 00 . There are more of the cage types,than true wheels.I have played at the Del Rey. When I asked what the limit was ....I believe they said $25.00 on a straight up bet.
Since you can play colones, or dollars..when playing colones.it is like playing with 25 cent chips.Your money can go a long way.

All the questions were answered above except the odds of RED coming up after 7 BLACKS.

The odds are the SAME ON EACH SPIN! The ball has no memory. There is no difference from one spin to the next. Unlike blackjack where you are removing cards from the deck which does have an impact on what will come next, each spin has the same odds as the previous one ie. 38 to 1 on a 0/00 table (keep in mind, the payoff on a single number is 35 to 1).

The casino 'take' improved something like 30% when they installed the pole showing the previous spins. If someone saw BLACK come up 3 times in a row they just KNEW RED had to be next.

Stay away from Roulette unless you've got a lot of money or can bet in very small amounts. The problem many people get into is they put a chip or two on so many spots that before you know it a $1 bet becomes a $10 bet.

Outside of KENO it's one of the worst games you can play due to the high house edge.

I'm not a gambling man, but my wingman loves roulette. On our first trip, he won about $1200 one night. For whatever reasons, when he plays with his "novia" they always seem to win. Don't know much about odds and stuff like that, but one day i walked into the DR and found my wingman sitting at the roulette wheel, the first thing he asks me, "give me a number" I gave him a number and he placed the bet, my number came up. He asked again, again my number came up. When he asked again... my number came up. That was three in a row, i didn't even get a chance to sit down, it happened so quick. My wingman likes to bet big and had just made some really quick cash. He looked at me and said, "watch security will be out here any second." He was right. I looked at all the chips and told him to walk away. He did and gave me a nice tip. :lol:

On another trip, i tried sitting down to play roulette, no luck. I don't seem to have the patience to sit at the table watching balls go round and round a the while Chicas are walking around the DR looking for some lovin'.

anyways, standing next to me was this older gentelmen who was betting big on his numbers. I looked at the wheel and noticed a green ball and wondered to myself what the green ball was for, since i didn't see any green on the table. Well what happens next... green pops out and the guy wins big, he played 00 and it hit. he got paid. his next number, 13, came up and again he won big. security came over. the gentlemen collected his chips and cashed them in...

i never win.... but whatever the odds may be... some people seem to have the luck... since i don't know much about gambling... i think roulette is probably the easiest game to play not knowing anything and just wanting to pass the time or relax for a moment. you just pick numbers, get free drinks, and sometimes you may get lucky.

if i didn't have bad luck, i would have no luck at all.

for Tute use Caribbean Stud. I don't play either but I think the games are pretty close to being the same.

I spend many hours a week dealing roulette at a major vegas strip casino so I can advise you authoritatively that whiling away the hours between chicas @ a roulette wheel will seriously dent your chica budget. Roulette is ok to stop & take a quick shot @ your lucky numbers or favorite players jersey # but as for playing it seriously for long periods of time will put you in the poorhouse. The single zero wheels are found in a few casinos in vegas with much higher minimum bets to compensate for the house edge being cut in 1/2.

Witling is pretty much right on what he said about the game. The reader boards on the games that track the last 20 spins attract the suckers in droves. I've seen many a rube drop their whole weekend trip budget betting that the next spin HAS to be red because the last 5 were black. They keep doubling up until they are broke or they have reached the table maximum bet.

If you want to while away time gambling in san jose-learn how to play pai-gow poker, the minimums are low & 40% of all hands are pushes. It's not exciting enough for the real gambler but entertains many an amateur for hours.

On my last trip I watched the cage tables on several occasions. I never saw anyone win anything. That is walk a way with any money. Everyone bet way too many chips on too many numbers per turn. I enjoy math...and the odds just never work out.

I didn't play myself. Felt like I had won since I was the one who still had money in my pocket and could choose to sent it on a different type of entertainment.

Also, watched blackjack at HDR. No body won there either! I saw several guys over a three hour span go through several hundreds of dollars each. No winners! The dealer cleaned out everyone. I enjoy playing but not when everyone is losing. Something didn't seem right!

I'll wait until I'm in Vegas to gamble.
