I have played in the Horshoe room across from the DR, any input on other games in town?

The Colonial has started a game upstairs. The Radison also has a poker room. I have seen a table at the Paradiso but I don't know the details.

I talked to Lewis (?) one of the dealers who was working at our tourney on Thursday and he told me they have a nightly 1/2 game buy in ($100-200).

I don't know about tourneys.

I'm about to start playing here in Jaco to have something to do at nights. I hear there is a good game at the Amapola. I hear also that the Cocal has a game now, but some of the regular players I know prefer the Amapola.

I loved the Horseshoe! I walked away ahead every night I played there.....the last night I played for a half an hour and walked away with $560. I found that many players over play their hands and if you sit back and wait for a good starting hand then catch a flop, you can usually get them to commit all their chips on an inferior hand. Had the time of my life!

The Feista Casino out towards the airport has the best game in San Jose.
Wednesday Night is Poker Night- Good Tourney and then cash game to follow. The best game is a 3-5nl 1000 max buy in with rebuys up to the chipleader. This makes for quite a exciting game. It plays more like a 10-25nl in the states. Several top WPT pros can be found here. Bring the A game.

A1975,
Thanks for the info. But that buy-in, at least for me, is a bit high. I need to have money leftover to help the Ticas, Nicas, and Colombianas feed their families. (I go down there periodically to do charity work.)

Although it would be nice to sit with Humberto Brenas (WPT champ and Costa Rica native) and take his whole bankroll.

I concur that the Fiesta game is the juiciest in town...IF you know what you're doing. NOT for the novice though a few rich ones sit in the game quite often...which makes it Juicy. But it can require a serious bankroll...so dont think you'll buy in for 100 -200 and walk away with alot. It CAN happen, but the game is wild enough where you have to survive some wild gyrations. For example...the 2nd time I sat in the full game I was down $600 in 90 minutes. 1 hour later I was UP $2000 and left the table. Thats some heavy action folks... (and NO, I dont ALWAYS win. No one does...even Humberto Brenes)

Be careful and have fun...

It's not just Humberto, he's got two brothers. The youngest one won the WPT on TV just last week.

Actually...3 brothers...and they all play. Nothing like a lot of time and money on your hands to help you get to some final tables 8) . They all have different playing styles as well...so you cant play everyone named Brenes the same.
