BULLSHIT is BULLSHIT
if the shoe fits
competitive-if you believe in your picks you post them in a timely manner
not one by one
you dont change picks
if the money doesnt matter donate it to the girls of hlh or the charity of ones choice-bet thats not going to happen

I would appreciate what you consider "bullshit" about posting 1 pick at a time. I am not a gambler and have never placed a bet with a bookie or a sports book in my life so perhaps I do not understand the protocol involved.

That being said I find it difficult to believe that if I went in the sports book at MGM Grand on last Saturday afternoon and placed on bet on the Buffalo/New England game, returned on Sunday morning and placed a bet on the K.C./Denver game and then returned 2 hours later and placed a bet on the Dallas/NYG game anyone at the sports book would be upset. Would they yell bullshit and throw me out and refuse to take the bet?

As to the importance of the HUGE prize money believe what you will.

thats a bullshit comparison
your making bets for yourself and bets can be made on any sporting event right up until the game or event starts.
You are not competing against anyone else
in a handicapping contest you are competing against other contestants
Handicapping contests in vegas have rules that prevent the bullshit that has recently occurred in this contest.
While this contest may not have had specific rules posted about such bullshit....
maybe just maybe the organizers were expecting the participants to have a little charachter and integrity i know i was.

If someone uses smart strategy during the last week of the contest that doesn't mean that they don't have character or integrity.
I fail to see how that's even marginally unethical. Its called being smart. Making picks only when it makes sense to do so. Nothing shady or unethical about that. Do you think that the Houston Texans are lacking in character because they didn't go all out to win yesterday's game against Tennessee, when the game meant nothing to them? Why did they go for a 2 point conversion from the 7 yard line (which has a 40% chance at best of being successful) instead of kicking the extra point to send the game to overtime, where they would have had a 50% chance of winning?

wow another bullshit comparison by one of the bullshitters
just as well there were no specific rules posted as some of you would not follow them.
Believe anything you want and substantiate it any way you want to.
Those of us in the know(and not afraid to post it) knows its BULLSHIT-hell you bullshitters know it to.
If the original timeline for picks was enforced we would not be having this debate.
But if i ever need a winner ill ask you ...after the game is played.Hell there is an idea lets put picks in after the games are played and come up with some sort of tiebreaker.

OK Mike you win. Everyone who participated is a BS artist except you. You are pure as the driven snow. Integrity and character drip off you in such a torrent I had to wipe my monitor off every 12.5 seconds. I hope it was not damaged beyond repair. You know now that I did not win, place or show I can not afford to buy a new monitor.:P

Congrats to the winner and everyone above 50%!

My final thoughts on rule(s) changes and proper "ettiquette":

I DO think that all of the picks should be done via PM or EMail for the final 4 or 5 weeks. Every site (ESPN & Yahoo, et al) hides the picks of the others until the pick deadline has passed.

The deadline is the key here. There has to be some agreed upon deadline and it has to be enforced next year. (I think everyone agrees on this point) Whomever runs the Challenge should pick this deadline. If you don't agree with the deadline, then do not participate. This would obviously take care of "continuation bets" (for you poker studs) as well as changing picks after a deadline.

The less rules the better. After thinking about what I posted earlier regarding making everyone a pick in the last few weeks, I retract my sentiments. It was probably sour grapes :D I do like the max/min pick concept and that should stay.

Whatever happened previously is over and water under the bridge at this point. People are always going to look for advantages or loop holes, it is competitive nature.

Though Entertaining I agree next year we will do this with a blind selection service like Yahoo or CBS sports where your selections will not be known until Kickoff maintaining the integrity of the contest even if it was for fun.

I will personally assist Orange next year to make sure its fun for all with some OUTCOME that means something.
Thanks to all and Congrats to the winners and everyone in the $$$

My two cents:

It is a contest and jockeying for position at the end makes it interesting and it was within this years's rukes. If you do not want someone to see your picks post close to gametime. I personally like the way it is. Let's also remember it was a free contest with cash prizes and meant to be fun.

I agree with BK. That is why I posted this yesterday

I think it actually adds to the contest. You have to keep looking at the possibilities and changing your strategy to maximize your chance of placing in the top.
